The Weekend Around Here...

Friday night was a FAMILY NIGHT for us!
I am always on the look out for free fun, so we decided to make the trip to Lake Wylie to watch the Carolina Ski Team do a show!
It was a gorgeous night to be sitting out by the lake!
We enjoyed watching all of the tricks, but the highlight of the night was letting the kids take a quick little (unplanned) dip in the lake!
Saturday morning Matt had to work, but on his way home he stopped at a yard sale in our neighborhood and picked up a slip n' slide. Ha! He set it up for the kids to use and they LOVED it!
It was definitely worth the dollar he spent:)!
Sunday morning we went to church and Brooklyn's teacher sent me this picture of her sweet class having some messy fun!
And then Sunday evening we had a birthday celebration to go to!
The kids played and swam...
And enjoyed the celebration!
We have a fairly busy week coming up! We are getting ready for some BIG SUMMER FUN!

The Nifty Nine

Earlier this week all NINE cousins got together for a play date!
We met at Martha River's Park for some fun in the sun!
The kids played for a good long while before we found some shade and had a picnic lunch.
Since it was such a hot day, we found a splash pad just around the corner from the park to cool off in!
It felt SO good!
And since we were right in the neighborhood of Tony's ice cream...we had to introduce our cousins to our favorite ice cream shop!
It was a SUPER SUMMER ADVENTURE with this fun crew!

Aloha!

This past Saturday night our family all gathered together for a Hawaiian Luau!
My sisters came up with the fun idea and everyone got super excited about it and started planning!
It was a bit rainy when we first got things started, but it very quickly turned into a beautiful night to be outside!
We tried to make our dinner as Hawaiian as possible! We enjoyed chicken kabobs, rice, fruit salad, green salad, and Hawaiian rolls. For dessert we had sherbet, pineapple cake, and Nutter Butter Flip Flop cookies! Everyone ate around the pool and enjoyed being outside!
After we ate, we decided to play some fun games.
The kids loved coconut bowling...
And of course we did the LIMBO!
After a few rounds of game playing...everyone jumped in the pool!

Everyone splashed (and took a few rides down the slide)!
Played...
And relaxed by the water...

Our evening concluded with my sisters leading the little ones in some hula dancing:)
SUCH a FUN night! We always enjoy our time together!

What Summer Is All About

These past few days we have just done some simple summer fun!
Matt has been out of town since early Tuesday morning, so we have been on our own!
We have stayed close to the house and played with friends outside, had water balloon fights, made homemade lemonade, and even tie dyed t-shirts!

I did take the kids to the summer movies one afternoon to see Home.
We went to the dollar show and the kids had such a fun time!

 Image from Google

Of course we did lots of swimming too! That's always a summer favorite!

We finished up the week with some pool time with this fun girl and her mommy!

And a HOT trip to the park...

We have some BIG summer fun coming up tonight!
Can't wait to share!!!

Emery Caroline Is 10 Months!

This past Sunday Emery Caroline turned 10 months old!
(I had a HARD time getting a sweet, smiling picture of my serious girl this month, ha!)

She thinks she is "So BIG"!!!
She is wearing mostly size 18 months clothes, a size 3 shoe, and a size 5 diaper.

You are still sleeping great at night. You are usually in bed around 7:30 or 8 and will sleep soundly all night long! You will cry out for me around 7 or 7:30 the next morning.
You usually take 2 naps a day, but are very flexible where and when these happen. Some days we are at home and other days we are out and about running errands or doing something fun!

You are still eating great! You still have several bottles throughout the day and I still give you baby food sometimes, but you also always enjoy the food that we are eating too. The last time we were at the doctor she told me that I could start some meats, so I have given you some turkey lunch meat and some chicken nuggets! You are also pretty good at picking up small pieces of food and feeding yourself!

You still love all things summer (just like the rest of us) and have been so fun to take to the pool this summer! You splash and play and always LOVE the water:)!

This past month you have discovered our stairs! You can be up them in a flash. The kids actually think it's funny when you go up them, but it scares me! Ugh! You also know how to do "So Big"! That is one of my favorite tricks that you do!
You can also say "Dada" and "Mama"! We all love to hear you "talk"!

Look at those teeth...you have five, with more on the way...

You are VERY attached to me. You do not go to others very easily.
I LOVE that you love me so much:)
This is still one of my favorite ages! I just love all of the things that you are doing! I love that you can play and enjoy so many things.
I love how big and squishy you are! I could just kiss and squeeze you all day long!
I love giving you your last bottle of the day and rocking you in your room as you drink it up! I just look at you and think how sweet you are and how lucky I am to be your momma!

You are loved so much, Emery Caroline!
Happy 10 Months!

The Tooth Fairy Made a Visit!

Last week, my Jake FINALLY lost his FIRST tooth!
He actually started to have his big tooth growing in behind it, so we were glad that it finally started to wiggle and loosen up a bit.
Each day it got a bit looser and then one evening Matt tugged it just a little and out it came!
Jake put it under his pillow hoping that the Tooth Fairy would make a quick stop at our house, and she did!
His other little baby tooth on the bottom is a little loose too, so that one will be next!

Doing a Day Downtown

Matt's work schedule can be a little bit crazy and unpredictable, so when he said he was taking a day off of work for us to have some family time, we were ALL excited. He told me to come up with a (cheap) plan for the day, so I was on it!

There were a few things that I have been wanting to do with the kids this summer that required us to go downtown. I LOVE going downtown, but get a little bit nervous sometimes finding my way around and knowing where to park. So, I was THRILLED that he was able to tag along and help me:)

Our first stop for the day was taking a (free) ride on the Gold Rush!

We found our stop and the kids waited patiently for it to come and pick us up!

We rode it into the city and got off at the Epicenter where we had a coupon for a pizza place!

Our family LOVES pizza!

After everyone was fed and happy, we took a walk through the city!
There are so many neat sights and sounds to take in! The atmosphere is so cool to me! We saw so many people walking and working, plenty of restaurants and food carts to eat at, people selling beautiful flower bouquets, and even people selling fresh fruits and veggies! It was like a little market down there!

We walked several blocks until we came to The Green.

We packed the kids suits and let them splash around in the fish fountains for a bit to cool off.
(More free fun!)

I had also read about a neat little park tucked inside The Green called "Pocket Park".

There, we found some cool chairs and stools (and some nice shade) and enjoyed some popsicles (another freebie) that were being passed out around the park for people to enjoy on such a HOT day!

Love spending summer days with my family!
Another summer highlight for sure!

A Homerun Kind of Day!

The kids and I thought it would be loads of fun to host a BIG, SUMMER playdate at the new Ballpark in our city. This is where the Charlotte Knights play! I called a few weeks ago and got a tour all set up! The staff was super friendly and did a wonderful job hosting us!

We invited a "FEW" of our friends...
(look at this crew!)

and had a super FUN day!

The kids got to walk all around the stadium and learn a few cool fun facts about it!

Then we moved inside and got to see where they practice their batting and pitching and where they get warmed up and ready for games.

We even got to sit in the Knight's dugout!
And...we got to take a peek in the locker rooms too!
(the grocery carts are for ALL of the STINKY laundry that must get washed)
After we finished up our tour, our entire group picnicked at Romare Bearden Park which is right across the street. Everyone found a little bit of shade and enjoyed lunch!
And as soon as everyone finished...the kids changed into their suits and hit the water!
It was a very "cool" way to wrap up a very hot and fun day!
This little girl was the baby of the group and was so good throughout the day!
Look at that sweet smile:)
The kids and I were exhausted by the end of the afternoon!
What a great day we had with so many of our friends...and...GO KNIGHTS!
