Final Notes For August

We always love weekends around here! We got to spend lots of time together as a family the past few days which is my favorite thing to do!
Matt took Parker fishing early Saturday morning. They caught two fish while they were out!
Parker absolutely loves spending time with his Daddy! He is a lucky boy to have such a good one!
After they got home, Jake and I were able to spend some time together. We decided that it would be fun to head up to the neighborhood courts and play a little tennis! Neither one of us knew what we were doing, but it was fun trying something new! Jake got a bit frustrated (we did more chasing balls than hitting them), but I was so glad that he at least tried to play!
Sometimes Jake can be super hard on himself and has a hard time seeing all that he is good at! But let me tell you, this is one AWESOME boy!
He is so good at so many things. He is a smart little boy,
a SUPER STAR reader, an AMAZING swimmer, and quite the artist (just to name a few)! He brought this picture home the other day from school. I think they worked on it in art class, but I thought it looked pretty great! GO LIONS!
After Jake and I finished hanging out we were so HOT! We decided to grab the little ones and head back to the pool for a swim! Everyone had such a fun time swimming for a bit! We know that our hot summer days at the pool are winding down!
Let me tell you...these two are so fun together! During the day, while Jake is at school, they play so well together! They play all sorts of sweet things like mom and dad, doctor, library, camping, church, and dentist! (The other day both B and P had scheduled dental appointments for a cleaning. After they finished up I asked them what they wanted to do for the afternoon. I suggested playing outside. Brooklyn looked at me and said that she didn't think that would be a good idea because she might get her teeth dirty! Ha! Love her!)
I am so glad that I get to spend my days with them and I love how much they love each other!
And I have been brainstorming lots of ideas for this girl's FIRST BIRTHDAY which is coming up!
We are celebrating her next weekend with our family and I can't wait! I can't believe that she will be a year! It has flown by!
So long comes September!

Playground Clean Up Day!

Yesterday morning the kids and I headed to the preschool to help clean up the playground and to get it ready for the school year ahead! We all pitched in and pulled weeds, picked up sticks, organized toys, and washed things down!
Both Brooklyn and Parker will get to go to school two days a week this year and I am super excited for them!
I LOVE their sweet little preschool and all of the fun things that they get to be a part of!
We are looking forward a GREAT year!

Date Night

Saturday night Matt and I got to have a DATE NIGHT!
We were offered last minute Panther tickets, so we asked my sister to come over and help with the kids so that we could go!
We were a little rushed getting down to the stadium, but we did make time to enjoy a quick dinner at Pinky's before it started.
It's always a challenge to make time specifically for each other, so it was a super night for both of us!

We actually had time to sit and talk about several things that have presented themselves to us recently. One of the biggest changes for us this fall will be that Matt is heading back to school! We are really excited for this opportunity (and a bit overwhelmed), but know that this is what the Lord has for him right now. Matt has some exciting long term goals and we both know that this is going to be the best way for him to reach them!
I know that he will do really well at school and I am so proud of him!
I am thankful that he is such a hard worker and that he is willing to take this on for our family!
I hope that I can be his biggest cheerleader through this process!
It's going to be well worth it come May 2018!

On the First Day of First Grade

This big boy started the first grade today!
He was just a bit nervous this morning as we headed in, but Mrs. Cheuvront made him feel very welcome when he arrived!
Matt and I gave him a big hug and kiss and told him to have an awesome day...and then we left!
We thought about him the entire day! The little ones and I could not wait to pick him up this afternoon! We missed him so much!
He said that he had a good day! He went to computer class, played with his buddies on the playground, did a few back to school activities, and started to learn what first grade is going to be all about!
We are looking forward to an extra special year!
Our family is thankful to be a part of such a wonderful school!

Summer's Finish Line...

Well, it's that time again! School begins for our crew in the morning!
We had such a great summer that we really can't complain one bit! We did so many fun things and completed almost all of the activities on our bucket list!
As much as we LOVE summer though, we are all craving a little more structure in our days and are ready to get into our new fall routines (more on that later)!
But...before all of that starts back up...we had to squeeze in a bit more FUN!
The kids and I decided to hit up Discovery Place one day to check out all of the new exhibits! We picked a great day to go because it wasn't crowded at all!

We got there mid morning and stayed for HOURS! My kids love this place!
We saw the new guitar exhibit, played on the Air Chair, toured the rain forest, touched a python, and saw Rat Basketball (twice, ha)!
And believe it or not, we hadn't been swimming in our neighborhood pool in a while, so we spent a couple of mornings up there!
We had the entire pool to ourselves!
We also got to enjoy a Wet 'N Wild end of summer celebration!
The kids had an absolute blast slipping and sliding and getting soaking wet:)

The evening finished up with a little dunk tank action (which my boys LOVED) and a 75 foot (yes, you read that right) banana split! And to top it all off...there was money hidden beneath the ice cream and our crew was lucky enough to find a $20 bill! We all enjoyed a dinner out after the celebration was over!
Our last summer hoorah was a get together with the cousin crew for one last time before everyone heads back to school.
We met at my sister's house for a picnic lunch, ice cream sundaes, and of course...SWIMMING!
This boy was the sliding board CHAMP!
Everyone had such a good time and played together so well!
I can't believe that summer is over!
What a memory filled summer we bring on FIRST GRADE!

First Grade Open House!

This afternoon we made our way up to Jake's school for Open House!
Jake was able to find his classroom, meet his teachers, and catch up with some of his buddies from last year! He was definitely a bit nervous, but I know that once he gets into his routine again, he will be AMAZING!
I am absolutely THRILLED with his teacher this year! She has known our family for many years and is so good at what she does (and she is a HUGE Steelers fan, ha)! I just know that she will be a perfect fit for him!
I know that he will continue to grow and mature in so many areas this year!
I can't wait to see all that the Lord will do in him and through him this year!
We are ready for a GREAT year in first grade!

Beach Life 2015

My entire family just got back from our annual week at Surfside Beach and what a week it was!
The countdown to this BIG week of summer fun starts early in the year and we all get so very excited as we get closer and closer to going! It's such a special week and we all love being together and making such fun memories!
I took SO MANY pictures that it has been quite the task going through them all, but here is just a taste of all of the fun that was had...
Jake was AMAZING this year! We couldn't keep this boy out of the water! He spent HOURS each day in the ocean boogie boarding, jumping waves, and body surfing!
He was often the first one in the ocean and the last one out and was always ready to go back in for more!
One afternoon Jake and I were in the ocean riding some waves together. Several big waves were knocking us all around and I asked him if he was ok. He looked at me with a big smile on his face and said, "never better, mom"! I love when I get to watch him do something that he absolutely loves!
This girl was so much fun this year too!
She enjoyed being down by the ocean playing in the sand underneath the umbrella and pretending to have her own bakery! Ha!
She spent most of her time digging, "baking", and filling buckets up with sand!
She also loved to play with some of her best girl cousins, Sophie and Addy Kate!
Parker was such a sweet boy all week long! He only napped a few afternoons and always wanted to hang out with everyone down at the beach!
He tried to boogie board a few times, but it was just a tad tricky for him.
His favorite beach activities were catching minnows with Uncle Steve or digging in the sand with his big shovel (or eating bubble gum after he got a little salt or sand in his mouth, ha)!
He also took a few walks down to the pier with his daddy...
Love this pic of these two!
Emery Caroline enjoyed her very first week at the beach too (well, for the most part).
It took her a little while to get used to everything, but she was a trooper and was at the beach with us for hours every day!
Her favorite part was watching the seagulls! She would get so excited when they would land near by! Her little legs would start kicking and she would let out a big 'ol squeal! So sweet!
The hardest part this year was that she was VERY attached to me! She only wanted me (or sometimes Matt) to hold her.
If I set her down at all, she would just reach right back for me! She got better by the end of the week, but she was definitely my girl:)
Emery also loved to climb up in the beach chairs...all by herself! Ha! She would climb up in them and then just look around and enjoy herself there for a bit! Silly girl!
Another fun thing that we do every year is find shark teeth! We always find a bunch, but this year, they were all over the beach! My sister Allison and nephew Corban are really good at finding them, so they helped Jake and Sis find a few throughout the week!
One of the sweetest things about the week is getting to spend it all together! My parents have been bringing us since we were little and now I get to bring my four littles!
It's so special to make sweet memories with Mimi...
And Puppa...
Everyone loves to spend as much time on the beach as possible.
We all get down to the beach around 9:30 and stay out until dinner time!
The weather this year was pretty good. We had a few rainy spurts, but overall we can't complain one bit.
Some of our crew enjoyed a little surfing throughout the week...
We also played A LOT in the ocean...and we didn't see any sharks:)
We got sandy...and did some relaxing under the umbrellas...
We played soccer and did relays on the beach...
And laughed and smiled ALOT too:)
The place that we stay is right on the ocean and we have a pool that we can jump in anytime we want!
The kids LOVE to swim, so having a pool that close is the best!
After a salty ocean swim, we can rinse off in the pool before heading back down to the beach for more!
My kids were ALL OVER the pool again this year!
Emery loved swimming too! She would sit and play on the side of the pool, or kick, splash and go under the water like it was no big deal!
Just like all of the other years, we don't venture out too much in the evenings. We like to stay close to the condos at night and just sit around, relax, and play games.
This year we played lots of Guess Who and Bellz!
We do go out for ice cream one of the nights to our most favorite place..the Yum Yum shop!
My Grandpa and Grandma used to bring us here when we were little and it's been a sweet tradition ever since!
Of course our beach trip wouldn't be complete without a few fun pics on the beach.
Our fun bucket picture...
And Tim and Corban being silly...
We all love to have fun and there is just no better place to do that than at Surfside Beach!
