Hello Summer!

We are definitely LOVING our new summer schedule!
We made out our summer bucket list last week and have already started to cross things off!
We have not wasted any time diving right in!
This week we had a couple of overcast days, so we decided to head to the Charlotte Nature Museum.
We had never been there before, but really wanted to check it out!

One thing that we were really excited to see was the butterfly garden. The kids and I had fun a few weeks ago doing our own butterfly garden at home. We received a cup of five caterpillars and watched them change into beautiful butterflies before we released them!
We saw several really pretty ones at the museum that were just flying all around us!

We checked out all of the animals in the museum and then did a little exploring outside!
We ate a quick picnic lunch and then finished just in time to paint our own flower pots to take home.

When the sun did come out throughout the week, we were at the pool keeping cool.

One afternoon we had a playdate at the pool with our friends, the Anderson's! The kids swam for HOURS and were exhausted the rest of the afternoon:)

We finished up our FIRST week of summer with just some simple fun at our neighborhood park!
Our little neighbor friend Chloe joined us for the day while her mom and dad had to work.

We are off to a great start to our summer!

Kindergarten Celebration!

This past Thursday, my Jake finished up his Kindergarten year!
I can not believe that this boy will be a FIRST GRADER in the fall!
What a sweet year he had and we are so proud of him!

Mrs. M was his wonderful teacher. She loved on him all year and worked so hard with him to bring out his very best! She would not only pour into him each day in the classroom, but came to several of his ball games this year and even had him over to her house for some fun times!

And my sister Kelly taught right down the hall, so they got to see each other every day too!
It was a treat for Jake to see her each morning and nice to know she was always close by;)
Thursday evening was his BIG kindergarten celebration!
Mimi, Al, and my Grandma came to celebrate with us!

His class sang some sweet songs and then each kindergartner was recognized for completing their kindergarten year!

Matt and I are so proud of our Jake! He totally ROCKED kindergarten and made such sweet memories and wonderful friends! We have seen him grow in so many ways this year and are thankful for his teachers that poured into him everyday. They did an amazing job!
After working so hard and giving his best all year, we are so glad to be on SUMMER BREAK!
Congratulations Jake!
We are proud of you and everything that you accomplished! Way to go!
We love you!

Welcome to Summer, Brooklyn!

This past Tuesday, my sweet Brooklyn bear finished up her very first year of preschool!
She had such a fantastic year with Ms. Shana and all of her fun friends!
The class celebrated their last day together by having a pizza party and a SuMmEr Celebration!
Ms. Shana made them each a very nice scrapbook to have as a special keepsake from the year.
Such a thoughtful gift!

Then today, the entire preschool gathered for one GIANT preschool finale at the park!
We got to see so many of our friends and enjoy the day together!
Brooklyn got to see her sweet friend Madelyn! She used to live next door to us.
Ms. Lisa is the director of the preschool and has been such a blessing to our family! She is wonderful!

Ms. Ann was her Kingdom Kids teacher! Brooklyn came home each week sharing the sweet songs and stories that she learned from her!

I am so proud of my girl and all that she has learned this year!
I am so thankful that I get to have one more year to spend with you before you're off to Kindergarten!
 I love you BB!

Ready, Set...Field Day!

One of the best things about the end of school is FIELD DAY!
The elementary kids at Jake's school all got together for a very hot, but very fun morning of games, water, and some good competition!
It took Jake a few rounds to get into all of the fun (that's how my Jake rolls), but as soon as he did, there was no stopping him:)!
He had the best time rotating stations with all of his buddies and playing all of the games!
He said his favorite part was getting wet with the water guns and all of the splash balls!
The little ones and I got to go too!
We LOVED watching all of the action and we even got a little wet ourselves!
Sis loved playing with the GIANT parachute!
The kids played some fun games with it! It was so cool!

Parker would have stayed out there all day!
He loves to be outside and did a great job keeping up with the big kids!
What a fun day we had with our friends!
It was a great way to end a great year!

A Day at the Gardens & A Splash in the Pool

There have been a few last minute activities that I wanted to squeeze in before Jake gets out of school. These activities are geared towards preschoolers, so I wanted to make sure that we could take advantage of them.
I just recently found out about a little preschool program hosted by Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens.
We had never been to the gardens before, so I thought we should check them out before it got too hot for us to walk around outside!
The preschool program was FANTASTIC! The kids heard stories, made a craft, sang some songs, and toured the gardens!
We even found some fountains to cool off in!

After we enjoyed the gardens for a while, we found a cool place to eat our picnic lunch.

My kids and I had THE BEST day there!
Definitely one of my new favorite places to go!
My other last minute preschool must do was heading to Ray's Splash Planet for their last preschool swim day of the season!
We had not been to Ray's all year for their preschool swim days, so I really wanted to take the kids for a fun morning out!
I was a little nervous about taking the three little ones by myself,
so I asked my sister, Allison, to come with us! She was a huge help!
We all swam for a while and then got dried off just in time for a picnic lunch!
I love all of the special times that I get to have with my little ones!
We are ready for summer break so we can make even more memories!

Red, Juicy, Sweet and Delicious!

One hot afternoon this week we met up with our best buddies and headed to the strawberry patch for another fun year of picking!
We have gone the past several years and each time we go, we always have a great time!

The berries were so good this year. Big, red, sweet, and juicy! Perfect for eating and baking!

Everyone did a great job finding the best ones and filling up all of the buckets!
Parker loves strawberries, especially when we dip them in cool whip;)

This girl is so sweet in the strawberry patch!
She loved searching for the BEST ones! She loves strawberries best on top of her cheerios:)!

Jake was the BEST berry picker!
He didn't stop until his bucket was filled with berries! He enjoys them most on a big bowl of cheerios too, or just straight from the fridge!

After all of the picking was finished, we enjoyed some of the other things that the patch offers!

The kids played for a long time and then enjoyed some tasty treats like funnel cakes, homemade donuts, and MY favorite...a big ol' strawberry slushie:)!

We have already eaten almost all of our berries! I'd like to try to save a few so I can make my favorite strawberry bread! Maybe we will just have to make another trip to the patch:)!

Preschool Water Day!

On Tuesday morning Parker, Emery and I got to go to Sissy's preschool for their annual
It was the PERFECT day for some water fun! The sun was shining and it was HOT!
The kids all came to preschool with their bathing suits on and were all set for some FUN in the SUN!
The teachers used the grassy area outside to set up all sorts of water stations and games for the kids to enjoy!
Everyone had such a fun time getting wet!

After everyone had played a bit, the kids grabbed their towels and enjoyed McDonald's Happy Meals AND a SURPRISE visit from the icecream truck!
I am so thankful for a sweet preschool that we LOVE and the fun that we get to have together!
What a GREAT year it's been!
