When It Snows, Ain't It Thrilling!

Tiny, little snowflakes began to fall Tuesday evening and began to dust the ground!
It snowed for several hours on and off and we were THRILLED when we heard that school was going to be closed and we were getting a snow day!

After Matt got home from work and we had dinner, he decided to take the kids (the big ones) out for a little night time sledding! We don't have any snow gear (except for this random sled, ha), so we layered up the kids the best we could and out they went...

Wednesday morning we slowly started our day. I made cinnamon rolls, bacon, and scrambled eggs for everyone. Then we all bundled up again and went out to play!

My Parker loved it!

The kids went sledding down the driveway over and over and over again:)
(Love Sissy's face in this pic!)

The kids lasted over an hour outside before little hands, toes, and noses got too cold:)

The rest of our day was spend inside reading, napping, and playing wii.

It was WONDERFUL having Matt home ALL DAY with us!
This was supposed to be a very busy week. Matt was going to be gone a ton with work and basketball! What a blessing it was to have an entire day together as a family!

Even though a lot of the snow has melted away, we have another snow day today because some of the roads are still a bit icy!
I LOVE being "snowed in" with my loves!

SnOw!

We are anticipating SNOW coming our way! We have been waiting for it all afternoon and tiny little flakes have just now started to fall at our house!
I'm hoping for a fun day of snow play, hot chocolate, and cuddles tomorrow!

Saturday & Sunday Shananigans

This weekend was extra nice! Matt works a lot of weekends, but this weekend he was completely off!
Saturday morning we started off with Jake's basketball game. These aren't the best pics, but we are having so much fun watching him play!

He is a star dribbler and shines on defense!

After the game was over, Matt took the big ones to the Charlotte Checkers game.
Someone gave him tickets to the game a few weeks ago and he took Jake. He was offered tickets again for Saturday's game. This time he let Sissy go too. They rode the light rail down to the game and then enjoyed a hot dog lunch and some popcorn;)!

After everyone got home and rested just a bit, we headed to my sister's house to celebrate my mom's birthday. We enjoyed a yummy dinner and then used the chocolate fountains that we got for Christmas for dessert!

This little boy knew just what to do when it came to dessert time;)

We had such a fun time celebrating Mimi!
Happy Birthday!

Then on Sunday, Matt and I worked in Brooklyn's class at church. Parker usually comes with us during that hour. He is the sweetest boy ever! I snapped this pic of him enjoying his cracker snack! He makes me laugh! Ha!
(He fell on the driveway the other day and hit his eye pretty bad. My poor Parker.)

Our Sunday afternoon was spent napping and lounging by the fire!
It was sooo nice knowing that no one had to get up and out the door too early!

It's been a cleaning day around here. Trying to stay one step ahead this week!

Happy Monday!

The Good, The Bad, and The Blessings

This week has been just a little stressful for me. I've done lots of planning for school, completed all my report cards, and received FOUR new students on very short notice! This week has also been a little hard at home too. Jake's most favorite Christmas gift broke, Parker insisted on plunging my toilet (several times) AND he drew on my walls...twice! Whew!

In between all of that though, I'm looking back and CHOOSING JOY in it all!
There were several HIGH spots that I'm choosing to focus on!

One of our favorite places to have fun is Romp n Roll!
They were offering a free preview of their "Chef Rompy" class, so I signed my Jake and Brooklyn up! They "traveled" to Japan where they learned about the country and then they made some "sushi" for a snack;) My kids LOVED it, well, the class, not so much the sushi;) Ha.

We've had a couple of cool, but beautiful afternoons this week. We decided to spend some time outside. My Parker would spend all day everyday outside if he could. He just plays, plays, plays!

Today, Matt had the day off of work so we decided to use our new passes and go to Discovery Place!

We had such a great time! I had not been in a long time and my kids had never been! Jake was looking forward to going to the "science museum";) With our passes we can go anytime all year long!
We toured the entire downstairs. We went to the aquarium, saw a 3D movie, visited the rain forest, and played in the really neat kids area! Brooklyn and Parker LOVED the water table! Sissy was soaked by the time we left!
Then we went upstairs! I love this pic of Parker on the bed of nails! It makes me laugh! Ha!
After a fun morning as a family, we had a pizza lunch at Fuel Pizza! My kids are pizza lovers, so it was the perfect stop!

I also made a winner of a dinner last night. Everyone of us ate it! It was called Alfredo Tortellini. I'm always looking for quick and easy dinners and came across this one on Pinterest. I'll definitely be making this one again!

We also got some preschool things worked out for my Brooklyn next year. I am so excited for her and am so thankful that the Lord cares about every little need in our life!

And...we were told that we would be having a regular school day coming up on Monday even though it is MLK day. BUT, yesterday afternoon they decided to go ahead and take the day off!
Thankful for the blessing in a surprise day off!

We have plenty more fun things to look forward to this weekend! Can't wait!
Happy Friday!

Too Cold for School...Brrrr!

The weather around our area, much like the rest of the country, has been FREEZING!
We had been watching the weather reports, and while no snow was predicted, the temperatures got so low that many schools in our area were on a delay. Since our school is set up just a bit different, our entire day was cancelled! Yay! for unexpected days off!

It was one of those days where we slept in and stayed in our jammies just a little longer than usual...

This girl played lots of dress up...

Jake and I played several rounds of Connect Four and Candy Land together;)

And we watched movies by the fire and just had plenty of fun around the house!

Any chance I get to just be at home with my three with no where to go...
 I'll take it!!!

Go Blackhawks!

Today was Jake's first basketball game!
They have had a couple of practices, but today was the big day! I was a bit unsure of how he would do, but he actually surprised us;) He did great!
He is playing for our church league and Matt is his coach!
He is the littlest one on his team, but he was super fast and was dribbling like a champ!

Here's to a great season!
Go Blackhawks!!!

Celebrating the NEW YEAR!

Happy New Year!

We had just a little fun bringing in the New Year!
Tuesday I took the kids to a "Happy Noon Year" celebration!

The event was held at the mall's  kid's play area. They had balloons, face painting, games, crafts, dancing, and lots of prizes!
The kids played and had a super fun time counting down til twelve NOON:)

Our New Year's Day was spend hanging out around the house just resting and working on a few projects. We had some of our good friends over for dinner and enjoyed dinner and playing games with them!

The perfect start to a NEW YEAR!
