Got Candy? We Do!

We have been very busy enjoying all of the fall festivals this time of year offers! We have sooo much candy in our house and it isn't even Halloween yet;)

Friday night my neighbor and I took all the kids to the little fall festival our town puts on. We had a super fun time, but it got COLD! Parker's little hands were frozen! We went around to a few of the games and bounce houses, but then decided we better head home and thaw out:)

Saturday was our church's fall festival. This year they decided to do things a bit differently and actually host it at a school in the community. The weather was GORGEOUS and the turn out was FANTASTIC!

And as if that wasn't enough, Sunday we did a Trunk or Treat! This is our fourth year doing Trunk or Treat and we always have so much fun. The little church down the road puts it on and every year it gets bigger and better. They always have plenty for the kids to do and a FREE hot dog dinner!

Tonight Matt and I took the kids to the library for their "Spooky Halloween Bash". They watched Charlie Brown and played some cute Halloween games.

Whew! I am worn out from all of the fun, but we have one more round tomorrow night;)
The kids are sooooo excited!

Our Tour of the Fire House

Yesterday the kids and I planned a fun play date with some of our friends. October is Fire Safety month, so I thought a trip to tour our local fire station would be so much fun!
Several of our friends could come and we had the best day!

The firemen did such a great job with our crew! They were so good about letting the kids walk around and look at everything! They gave us a full tour of the fire house and then one of the men got dressed in all of his fire gear!

They showed the kids many of their fire tools and then let them inside the trucks to see all of the neat things in it!

Each family brought the firemen a tasty treat for them to enjoy.
They work so hard for our community everyday and take such great care of our little town!

It was a bit chilly out, but after our fun at the station, a few of us headed to the park to run around and play for a bit!
.

We had such a fun fall day with our friends!

A Trip to Lazy Five Ranch

Friday we took the kids to Lazy 5 Ranch! I had been once before on a field trip when I taught full time, but thought it would be fun to take my own kids! GA plans a field trip each year for all of its elementary students. Since we don't have school on Fridays, everyone is welcome to come if they would like!
Matt had the day off, so we thought it would make a great family day!

Jake had the BEST time ever! He was so excited about going on a field trip with some of his new school buddies!

We were to meet at Lazy 5 in time for a picnic lunch and then be ready for our wagon ride at 12:30. We ended up picking up a little something to eat on our way there and then arrived just in time to run around for a few minutes and get ready for our ride!

Brooklyn is NOT an animal lover. Poor girl cried for probably the first twenty minutes of our ride. She held on to Matt for dear life when those animals came RIGHT up to the wagon. I held Parker pretty tight too. I didn't want those animals to think he was part of their snack! Ha!

We saw so many neat animals! Matt and Jake did most of the feeding. Jake thought it was great. I don't really enjoy animal slobber dripping down my arm. Yuck!

Just like at the fair, Brooklyn thought things were pretty stinky out there too! Ha! Here she is holding her nose again! Ha!

It was such a BEAUTIFUL day outside to make some very fun memories with my little crew!

Give Me Five!

Today is Jake's 5th Birthday! He is a BIG FIVE year old now! WOWZERS!
He is so excited that he is one whole hand now! Ha!
It is a little bittersweet for me because I don't want him to get any bigger;) I keep telling him that this is his absolute last birthday! He's not allowed to turn six! Hee hee;)

We have been celebrating BIG time over here!
Saturday night we planned a Ninja Turtle birthday celebration with our family and one of his good little buddies, Jay. We decided to have it over at my parents house so there would be plenty of room to run and play out in the yard.
We had pizza and some sides to go with it and then my sister, Allison, made this incredible Ninja Turtle cake for him for dessert! He LOVED it! She did a super job making it!
We opened presents, jumped in the bounce house, and then sat by the fire pit for a little while! It was such a special night for Jake!

Matt's parents also began a little tradition with us a few years back. Each year for Jake's birthday they treat us to a fun night out at Chuck E. Cheese!
We had pizza again for supper and the kids had a BLAST running around playing the games and winning prizes;)! (Sissy cried for about the first 45 minutes after seeing Chuck E. Cheese walking around. She was TERRIFIED of him. Ugh.)
Matt's brothers happened to come up this weekend so they joined in on the fun!

Jake did a little Toy's R Us shopping last night with some gift cards that he received and then celebrated with some donuts with his classmates today at school!
Whew! We are partied out!

Jake,
Happy 5th Birthday to you, big guy! We love you and are so proud of you!
We are thankful for you and the little boy you are growing up to be!
What a special time we have had celebrating YOU!
Daddy and I love you to the moon and back!

May this next year be one of the best yet with you!

Happy Birthday!

Love,
Mommy and Daddy

My Pretty Ballerina

This afternoon Brooklyn was invited to "Bring a Friend Day" at her little friend Eva's dance studio.
My girl LOVES to play ballerinas, but has never participated in a real dance class:)
She was very excited, but a little be unsure of what to expect! She was a bit shy going in and shed a few tears when I dropped her off, but was all smiles after a little while! Her favorite princess music was playing and the girls were having the best time ever learning their new dance skills!

I LOVED watching my sweet girl!

A Boy and His Bubble Bath

After we got home from the pumpkin patch the other night, Matt and I were getting things ready for the kids to jump in the bath. I was letting the water fill up as I was getting clothes ready for school the next day. The next thing we know, Jake comes running to get us and says that Parker was in the tub! We went running in to see!
I had taken off his shoes, but that was all! He was just sitting in the bath tub with his socks, diaper, jeans, and shirt still on!
Silly boy:)

It's Pumpkin Pickin' Time

Wednesday evening was the perfect night to head to the pumpkin patch!
I LOVE taking my kids to Hodges Farm each year to see the animals, jump the haystacks, and of course pick out a few pumpkins for our porch!

Jake's favorite part was jumping the haystacks! He would leap from one big haystack to the next...over and over again;)
He was in charge of pulling our wagon too! He was the best at picking out a good pumpkin and loading it in the wagon for us!

I LOVE my sweet Brooklyn in the pumpkin patch! She was all smiles and loved running all over the place looking for the pumpkin that she would take home.

She also loved jumping on the haystacks, but definitely kept her distance with the animals! Ha!

Last year when we picked pumpkins, Parker wasn't even sitting up!
This year he tried his best to keep up with the big kids!

I have to say his most favorite part was "driving" the tractor and jumping the haystacks with Daddy!
The sweet giggles that we heard were just precious!

Fall is in full swing around here!
Our pumpkins have been placed on our porch and we are ready for more fall fun!

17 Months

Today my Parker is 17 months old. I just wanted to document this day, because this is exactly how old Brooklyn was when Parker was born. They are 17 months apart to the day! Sometimes I look at him and think he is still so little and then other times he seems like a big boy!
I'm so thankful he is mine and couldn't imagine our family without our sweet red head;)
We love you, Parker!

Let's Go Niners!

This weekend Matt and I had a date to the UNCC football game. He won four tickets to the game through work, so we took a sweet couple from our church with us. We were so excited to go and be apart of their inaugural season!

It definitely was NOT football weather. It was sooo hot sitting out there. It was close to 90 degrees! We watched the first half from our seats, but then had passes to the hospitality area, so we just hung out over there for a while watching the game. The 49er's were losing by quite a few points, so we decided to leave a little bit early (plus I was missing my kiddos)! We ended up missing one of the GREATEST comebacks ever! We ended up scoring 29 points in the 4th quarter and winning the game! Ugh! Hate we missed it! Ha!

It was so fun to be back on campus again.
I LOVED my college years. I made such great memories and some of my closest friends!
Thankful for a great day cheering on the Charlotte 49er's!

Brooklyn's Dentist Trip

Yesterday I took Jake and Sis to the dentist. This was their second time going, but last time when we went I didn't get a picture of Sis because she was a bit nervous and I had to hold her the entire time. She was a tiny bit unsure this time too, but she did great!
No cavities for these two! Whoo hoo!
