An Unexpected Trip to Florida...

The last few days have been a whirlwind for our family.
We picked up very unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon and headed down to Tampa, Florida to spend a few days down there. Matt and I had some meetings to attend, but in between it all we got to spend a little time with our Florida family!

We stopped in Jacksonville on our way there and back to break up our trip a little and got to visit more family and cousins. Sissy LOVED playing with all her girl cousins. All of them have tons of dress up things, make up, and princesses;) She was in heaven!

In between afternoon thunderstorms we did get a little time in for swimming in the hot tub...

and sliding into pools!

Because our trip was quick and very unplanned (and a bit stressful), we were so ready to get home!
We all enjoyed a much needed good night's rest and a day spent at home today!
The last things my kids (especially Parker) wanted to do was get back in that car!

Simply Summer

Spending time with our cousins is one of our most favorite things to do.
We are so lucky to have them close by!
Yesterday we met up with them at their pool for a day of swimming followed by a hot dog lunch.

Yesterday was "National Hot Dog Day" and today is "Cousin Day" so we got to celebrate both:)!

My sweet Parker splishing and splashing...

Sun kissed noses and wrinkled fingers and toes:)
Everyone swimming and having a good ol' time together!

It was a "sweet" day of celebrating!

What's better than cousins and summertime?
XOXOXOXOXO!

The Weekend

We had such a nice weekend around here!
Friday night Matt and I were treated to a very nice dinner. It is restaurant week in our city, so many places are offering wonderful deals for meals. We were invited to Chima's which is a Brazilian steakhouse. It was very yummy and such a wonderful night out!

We had a little sunshine throughout the weekend, so we of course headed to the pool as much as we could. We spent a good bit of our day there on Friday and then we went again Saturday night!

Yesterday was "National Ice Cream Day", so I planned an ice cream social for the families in our cul de sac. We live in such a wonderful neighborhood and everyone loves a reason to get together! It was a bit rainy, but a neighbor of mine opened up her garage and everyone piled in!

I think this week will be a bit slower for us. It seems like we have been so busy lately! I'm looking forward to spending some time around the house and just enjoying being home;)!

Puppet Shows and Playgrounds

We have visited our local library several times so far this summer. My kids are participating in the summer reading program which means we have read through TONS of books!

Today our library put on a puppet show for preschoolers, so I took the kids to watch it!
Afterwards we picked out several more books, worked some puzzles, and played on the computers.

This evening Jake wanted to take Matt to the playground to play basketball. While they played ball I chased the little ones around. This playground is so nice in the evenings because it is all shaded!

Love this pic of my boys with me...

My kids LOVE to be outside...

Summer nights spent outside with my family are my favorite!

"What's on the Menu?"

This morning the kids and I headed to another day of "camp" at our local mall. The NC Zoo was hosting "What's on the Menu?". The kids learned lots of cool facts about animals, what they eat and what eats them! They got to touch several animal bones, teeth, skin and fur and then Jake and I got to touch a REAL PYTHON!
It was a very "wild" way to spend our morning;)

Made in the Shade

This morning the kids and I crossed another activity off of our "Summer Bucket List". Many of our local theaters offer very cheap summer movies. The kids and I went to see "Madagascar 3" and enjoyed 2 boxes of popcorn for $4.00! My mom kept Parker for me, so it was fun spending just a little time with my big kids!

After lunch, naps, and a little time outside, we ate a quick dinner and then headed to the pool!
We ended up spending a couple of hours there! The kids were having so much fun! Jake was a pro at swimming down to the bottom to pick up rings and Brooklyn was jumping in like a champ! Parker was in and out the entire time and of course loved every minute of it;)!

These were both great ways to beat the heat on such a hot summer day!

A SUNNY Summer Day!

We are so lucky to have some of our cousins close by! They make THE BEST friends and playmates.
Today my sister and her crew came to our side of town to try out our splash pad!
We made an entire day out of it. We got soaked in the splash pad, ate our picnic lunch, played on the playground, rode the train, and then went back to the splash pad for round two!

My Jake LOVES his big cousins and Sissy LOVES playing with the girls;)

It was the perfect day for some FUN IN THE SUN!

Full Week of Fun

This week has been full of summer fun!

Here are a few of the things that we have been up to...

Parker and I signed up to take a little class at Rompy's House this week! They were offering free baby classes, so I called up my friend and asked if she and her twin boys wanted to join us!
It was kind of fun to just have some special one on one time with my Parker. He loved the class! He basically ran from one thing to the next and never stopped playing!

I got to take this fun girl to the mall for a cookie decorating event!
The icing and sprinkles were piled high for sure and her cookie turned out to be ALMOST as sweet as she is;)
(We also made a trip to the Disney Store to look around. She is in HEAVEN when she's in there! I can not wait until we can go one day!)

We got to squeeze in a fun trip to the playground in between all of the thunderstorms we've been having! The kids were able to finally get out and run, climb, swing, and slide as much as they wanted too!

Yesterday we took the kids bowling for the first time. We have wanted to go in the past, but it is a little expensive. This time we got to go for free through a little "camp" they offer through our local mall.

This week Jake also had a little fun of his own. My MIL generously paid for him to go to "Knights, Princesses, and Dragon Camp" at Romp n' R0ll.
He did a few camps there last year and had such a great time! He is begging for me to sign him up for another one this year! He would like to try out "Sports Camp".

My day finished today with a trip to the doctor for Parker. For the past few nights when we have put him to bed (and down for nap too) he has screamed and will wake up in the middle of the night crying too. This is just not like him at all! He acts fine during the day and is eating and drinking OK. I wanted the doctor to check out his ears though just in case there was an infection.
My big 27 lbs. boy checked out clear though:) We are assuming that it's just a little phase and will pass soon (we hope)!

I want my sweet, happy boy back!

It's been quite an eventful week here at our house! Matt and I are praying about some big decisions! I hope to share more soon on how the Lord is working, but in the mean time, I'm hoping for a restful night's sleep!

Floats, Family, and Fireworks!

The 4th of July is one of my favorite holidays, mainly because of the fun festival that our town puts on each year. This year was a little bit of a bummer because of the rainy weather. We tried to do a little bit of the festival, but it was just so muddy.

Thursday morning though, the weather cleared long enough for us to have our parade!
It is always such a fun time! This year we sat with lots of our friends and enjoyed watching the floats, marching bands, and fire trucks pass by!

Jake and Sis had fun filling their bag with lots of treats, while Parker smiled and clapped as everything went by. He was so tiny last year, but this year...he LOVED it!

My sweet girlie...

Parker watching the parade...

After the parade finished up, we ran back home for just a bit before heading to my parents house for an afternoon of swimming and playing!

Later on in the day Matt's parents and the rest of the crew and cousins came for dinner and fireworks!

It ended up being a super fun day that totally wore all of us out!
Just the way a fun day in the sun is supposed to be;)!

Ice Cream and Airplanes

Saturday night we were able to cross another activity off of our "Summer Bucket List".
We decided that it was the perfect night to head to Tony's Ice Cream.
Tony's has THE BEST ice cream ever!

We have been a few times before and it is always the BEST summer treat;)
YUMMY!

After our ice cream treat we drove to the airport lookout and watched several airplanes take off down the runway and several more come in for a landing!

My kids LOVED it!
It has been very muggy here lately,
but it was such a beautiful night to be outside!

Love this picture of my Parker!
He would get so excited when he heard a plane getting ready to land. It was so sweet!

Loved this sweet night with my family!
