Giving Thanks 2013

We had such a sweet Thanksgiving this year! This was actually the first time in several years that my entire family was all together! Our Thanksgiving day was a bit simpler than the past few because Matt's brothers didn't make the trip up to NC due to my MIL's cancer treatments. We were all a bit sad that we couldn't be together with them. Matt was wishing they were going to show up on our doorstep as a surprise:(

We woke up Thursday morning (after our first annual sleepover/movie night in the living room) and watched the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade! Watching the parade I think is my absolute FAVORITE thing to do on Thanksgiving! The kids loved it and we watched the entire thing while eating the yummy pancake breakfast Matt made for us;)

We slowly got things in order to head over to my parents house. I cooked homemade mac and cheese and a delicious brownie trifle and then we all got set and ready to go!
This year we had a full house! All nineteen of us gathered together for the best day ever!
Our family is so blessed and we are thankful to have each other!

We all ate way to much turkey, stuffing and mashed potatoes, but I think Parker's favorite part was the dessert;)

After we finished eating, all the boys were upstairs watching the football game, the girls were chatting in the dining room, and the kids were all over the house playing!

After a full day (with no naps), it was time to head home. I got the littlest ones in bed and followed them as quick as I could while Matt and Jake stayed up for a bit more watching the Steelers play their big Thanksgiving night game!
So many more sweet memories made this year! Our hearts are full!
I love my family and am so THANKFUL for them!
Happy Thanksgiving, 2013!

My Thankful Heart

Here I am on Thanksgiving morning reflecting on God's goodness to me this year.
Once again, there are too many blessings for me to count, but I am so thankful for all He has done.
I'm thankful for my salvation through Jesus Christ. After being completely DEAD in my sin, Jesus Christ made me ALIVE!
I'm so very thankful for my precious family. I'm thankful for my husband who loves me, leads me, and is the perfect man for me. I'm thankful for my three kiddos who have made me a mommy! They are the light on my life and I love all the fun they bring to our family. I LOVE being with them everyday and all the warm snuggles I get from them each day!

I'm thankful for my church and our awesome Sunday school class. We have grown so much in the Lord this year and have made some of the sweetest friends!
I'm thankful for Matt's new job at the church! He is finally able to do the one thing he LOVES! God has surly gifted him in this area and I'm thrilled he gets to do this every day!
I'm also thankful for my little part time job of teaching! I have the PERFECT job for me! I'm thankful for the opportunity to help provide for our family AND that my kids get to come with me!
I'm thankful that Jake is able to go to a Christian school this year! Being surrounded by Christian teachers who are all pouring into him, is such a blessing!
I'm thankful for my Dad and Mom who still pray for me and my family, who help us out with so much, and who welcome me and the kids for dinner during basketball season (and any other time we want to come over;)!
I'm VERY thankful for my sisters. They all know I'd be lost without them;) They are my best friends and I love them dearly!
(I'm also thankful to my sister Allison for taking some fall family pictures for us! There are so many that I love! Thank you! Love ya!)

I'm thankful to the Lord for healing Matt's mom of cancer this year! She is still in the healing process, but things are looking great!
I'm thankful that the Lord is blessing our family with TWINS this year! Matt's brother and wife are expecting #4 and #5 in June!
Thankful how God has blessed our family!

I'm thankful for my house! I'm thankful for our little cul-de-sac with so many little friends for my kids to grow up with!
My list could go on...our clothes, our cars (which we just paid off!), our full fridge and pantry, our friends, our freedoms, our health, and all the "extras" that we get to enjoy!
I'm thankful that the Lord has met some of our biggest needs this year.
There were times this year that we struggled to see what God had for us, but he has been faithful and through those time, brought us closer to him.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Thankful for Friends

A few weeks ago I set up a girls night out with some of the BEST girls ever! These are some of my most favorite college friends, and boy am I lucky to have them in my life still! We don't get to see each other all that often, but we all seem to just pick right back up where we left off any time we do get the opportunity to get together!
My college years were some of the best years of my life and I'm thankful for the opportunity to have shared those years with them!

School Pictures

A few weeks ago the kids had school pictures taken. They obviously take them of all the students and teachers, but they also take them of the little ones in child care;)
I don't think we are buying them, but they were too sweet (especially Parker's) not to at least share the proofs;)
My BIG boy, Jake...
Sissy cried her eyes out during the first attempt at school pics. Her second try was better, but she was still holding back little tears.

And look at this sweet boy's smile...

Parker has been making this little face lately and I am so glad that she captured it!
I love these three and am thankful I get to take them to work with me each morning!
What a blessing for our family!

Parker is 18 Months!

Yesterday my Parker turned 18 months! He is getting so big, but is still my LITTLE boy;)
He is just the sweetest thing ever, but I must admit, I have seen a little attitude forming! The other night he had a FIT because I wouldn't give him a second Oreo cookie. He can also get a little feisty when he wants something that someone else has. My little stinker!
Today he had his 18 month appointment at the doctor. He was 33 1/2 inches tall (79%), he weighed 27lbs 2oz (65%) (Brooklyn was 30 lbs. at 18 months!), and his head circumference was 49cm (80%).
He got two shots. One in each leg. He didn't cry at all on the first one and only a tiny bit on the second one. Our nurse was super fast! Love that!
So thankful for a healthy boy!
Parker, you are wearing mostly 24month-2T clothes and you wear a size 5 shoe.
You go to bed around 8:30 each night and wake up around 7:00 each morning. You take a nap in the afternoons from 2-4:30ish.
You are quite attached to me and don't usually go to others easily.
You are saying all sorts of words...ball, truck, choo choo, night night, bye bye, dada, mama, Sissy, Jake, ball, eat, shoe, drink. You know where your nose is and can sometimes do your eyes, ears, and hair too! You know some of your animal sounds like a doggie, a cow, and a snake! So cute!
You LOVE to read books with me! You will bring me one right after the other!
You always tell me "book". Ha!
You still LOVE to play outside. You would stay out there all day if you could! We had some BIG trucks working behind our house the other day and you just stared at them and watched them work.
You still enjoy your food;) For breakfast you like cereal bars, cheerios with peaches, scrambled eggs, or mini donuts;) For lunch you'll eat leftovers, cheese, yogurt, or fruit. You pretty much eat whatever I fix for dinner. You love spaghetti, sloppy joes, mac and cheese, pizza, chicken, rice, and black beans. You love apple juice and water, but I have a really hard time getting you to drink milk!
You don't mind playing a little rough with your big brother;) You love him and Sissy so much! They can make you give some of the biggest smiles and sweetest giggles!
We all are just crazy about you!
Happy 18 months, Parker James!
We love you!

School Days and Other Stuff About Jake

This big FIVE year old is the light of my life! I can't believe that he is getting sooo big on me and sooo fast too;) Since school began back in August, both Matt and I have seen so much change!
It's not always easy bringing all three kids to school with me each morning, but I am extra thankful that I have a job that allows me to do it!
The first few weeks of school were a little bit of an adjustment for Jake (well, for all of us actually), but he is definitely in his groove. I walk him to his first class each morning and then after that, he scoots to the next ones all on his own as soon as the bell rings!
He has made a good little buddy named Carson and loves all of his classes, except his hour of study hall:). The things he comes home and tells me that he learning in his classes are just amazing!
Today I was a bit anxious because progress reports came out. For the past 7 years I have been the one handing them out, but today I received one:)
Jake is doing super! I was very pleased. He received all E's and S's! Even though he is younger than all the kids, he holds his own (especially in P.E, ha) and his teachers have seen tremendous growth too! He needs a few reminders every so often to keep his hands to himself and raise his hand before he talks, but I am so proud of my big boy!
Here are a few things that I want to remember about my days with you, Jake:
1. You are learning your letter sounds and can blend and read some words.
2. You are learning to write some AMAZING stories in your Writing Workshop class. You come up with the craziest topics (like "Monsters and Bad Giz" as you spelled it. Ha)! I love that you are enjoying writing;)
3. You are a PRO at riding your two wheeler and LOVE to play with all the big boys in the neighborhood.
4. You love playing games on my laptop and the Wii.
5. You are always up for reading books or doing projects with me. I LOVE it;)
6. You LOVE listening to the Christian radio station. I think you know every song they play. I think Toby Mac, Big Daddy Weave, and Mandisa are your favorites. You really want Daddy and me to take you to a concert!
7. Your favorite foods are probably snacky foods (peanut butter crackers, pizza goldfish, and fruit cups). You really aren't much of a big eater.
8. You LOVE your Daddy and always want his attention.
9. You LOVE to play ninja turtles and watch Curious George, Peg + Cat and football on t.v.
10. You like to sit with us in big church! You LOVE the worship time and I love that you are learning about Jesus!
I love you, buddy!
You are the BEST and WE are SO PROUD of YOU!

Happy Halloween!

Last night was a big night around here! The kids were soooo excited all day to go trick or treating in the neighborhood. After I took one pic of Sissy though, my camera died! Ugh! So, I only snapped a few blurry ones on Matt's phone, but at least I have those;)
Jake waited patiently all day for the kids in the neighborhood to start heading out.
We hurried through our pizza dinner and then met our friends out for a fun night!
Sissy had so much fun dressing up again! This time as Tinker Bell!
Oh, I wish this picture of my Parker turned out better! He LOVED going from house to house! He would actually get a bit distracted after each house though because he wanted to open and eat each treat as he got it;) This boy LOVES his lollipops! Ha!
I ended up taking the little ones back home after we finished a few streets. Candy buckets were getting heavy and little legs were getting tired;) Matt took Jake down a few more streets before they called it a night:)
What a "sweet" night with my loves!
