What's On My Mind This Monday

Well, the final countdown is on...
This is the last week of being a family of four!
Baby Parker will make his grand entrance one week from today...that is if he doesn't surprise us and come earlier! We don't have much going on this week. Just a few last minute preparations and celebrations as a family.
I need to buy just a few more things and I would like to clean my house. That way I can come home to a clean house after my stay in the hospital. We have a fun day for the kids planned for this Thursday, so as much as I would like for him to come at any moment, I would REALLY like to enjoy one last fun event with my kiddos!
I have laid out some things for him that I would like to take to the hospital with me, like his special outfits, and the blanket that many of my family members have been brought home in. I need to think about what I would like to take too for myself. I know you don't need much, but I want to have a few things there. I am keeping the camera batteries charged too so we don't miss out on any of his special day!

Through all of the last minute prep work, I have not been feeling good at all. I rarely get sick, but I caught some nasty cold that has lingered for the past several days. I am feeling better today, but still not the greatest. I stayed home from church yesterday with Brooklyn and now her nose is running. Poor girl. I always worry about her when she gets this way. Hopefully she will bounce back quicker than me!

It is kinda hard to believe this is my last week with just these two!

I also have to blog about some extra special blessings Matt and I have received over the last week.
About a week ago I had a sweet friend call me up to see if I was in need of a bed. They were getting rid of a VERY cool loft bed. It is kinda like a bunk bed, but on the bottom is a tent and the bed has a sliding board attached to it! We didn't really need one at the moment, but after Matt and I talked about it, we decided to take it because of course we will need another bed sooner or later:)
It is now set up in Jake's room and is the coolest thing ever! It is very nice and he LOVES it!
I mean what little boy wouldn't LOVE a sliding board on his bed?!?!?

And the next blessing was the coolest thing ever!
Friday night Matt and I ran to IKEA to pick up a dresser for Parker's room. This was a need that we had. We got Jake's from there and wanted to get the same one just in case they need to share a room one day.
So off we went...
We found the one we needed which was $150 dollars. Ugh.
I had made plans with my sister to go to some neighborhood garage sales the next day. Matt asked me how much money I had and said he would go to the bank JUST IN CASE I were to find a dresser.
I told him the chances of me finding a dresser let alone one that matched were VERY slim.
We were almost to the end of our morning and guess what we walked up to?
A sale at a house with THE EXACT SAME DRESSER we bought the night before for $45 dollars! Oh. My. Word.
I was about to jump out of my skin. I just couldn't believe it! I still can't! I called Matt and told him. I know that the Lord had that dresser there just for us!
There is just no other explanation!

Thank you God for being our provider!

A Sweet Start To My Summer

Yesterday was my last day of school! The school that I teach at is set up a little bit differently from other schools, so we get to let out in April! Woot! Woot! I was so ready for a break!
I planned a fun day for my students and when the bell rang at the end of the day...everyone started yelling "SUMMER, SUMMER, SUMMER"! It was great!
My mom kept my kids on Thursdays while I taught, so when I picked them up yesterday afternoon, I had a summer celebration planned for us to enjoy!

I found out that SAS Cupcakes was celebrating their 5th birthday and was giving away FREE cupcakes! I believe that there are only three locations of SAS Cupcakes. Two are in our area and one is in New York. I had never been to SAS Cupcakes before, but yesterday was the perfect day to try them out:)

I called my sister up to see if she wanted to meet me there with her kids. SAS Cupcakes is not far from her house, so they said they would!
Everyone got to pick a cupcake of their choice! They all looked WONDERFUL!
After you pick your cupcake you can stop by the sprinkle station to load it up with a little more sugar. Sophie and Jake liked this part:)! Ha.
There were other candy buckets (which were at just the right height for little people, ugh) that you could add to your cupcake as well. Our kids kept trying to get into these too!

Sissy had a pink cupcake loaded with sprinkles.
Or course she wanted to eat it by herself!
She had pink frosting all over her pants by the end:)

Jake enjoyed a few bites of his, but he is not the biggest "sweets" fan.

Good till the last bite...

Making my sweet boy even sweeter (wink)...

I am sooooo glad SUMMER is HERE and this was the perfect way to kick things off:)!

Parker's Baby Sprinkle

We have been quite busy around here getting ready for Baby Parker!
I will be 38 weeks tomorrow and I am so, so, so ready for him to get here.
I am feeling pretty good, I am just tired! I know that won't get any better for a long while, but I am just ready to not have this big 'ol belly in my way:).

This past Sunday afternoon my sisters and best friend gave me a "Baby Sprinkle".
It was a very sweet sprinkle with several of my friends and family. I wish I had more pictures to share, but I was so busy that I didn't take many!
Everything looked so nice though.
We had snack food, cake, and punch!

Here is my best friend, Marcy! Love her to pieces and am so very blessed the Lord put her in my life 12 years ago! My Brooklyn and her Sophie are the same age and we hope they will be best little friends like us:)

Since this is my third baby, I didn't need any more "baby gear", so we decided to just do a diapers and wipes "sprinkle"! Oh my! Were we blessed! I think we are set with those items for a good long while! Here are just some of the packages...

Some of my friends threw in a few sweet outfits for him though:)

One thing that was sweet for me was that Brooklyn bear came to her brother's shower too!
I was a little worried because it was right during her nap time, but she ended up snoozing in the car on the way home from church, so I thought that would be good enough for this special day:)!
She loved being at the shower and as Jake would say "it's only for girls"!
Here she is trying her NEW "Big Sister" shirt on...

Coming home with all those wonderful packages on Sunday afternoon got us motivated to get some things ready for his arrival. Matt finally put up his crib, and I washed his clothes and set his hospital things out. We organized his nursery a bit and are now just about ready for him to come!
I went to the doctor this morning and everything is looking great. I am measuring right on and we set my induction date for MAY 7th! So he will surely be here by then (if not before)! We have a lot going on between now and then, so hopefully the next week and a half will fly by!

Parker,
You are already loved so much by so many people!
We are ready for you to join our family!
We can't wait to meet you and see your sweet face!

We love you!

Love,
Daddy, Mommy, Jake, and Brooklyn

See Ya At The Finish Line:)

This weekend was very busy for us!
Saturday morning we all got up early and headed to the school where I teach part time at. They were having a 5K walk/fun run to raise money for their new building. We all had to participate in some way, so I chose to be a part of the "Big Race" as Jake called it.
I am in no condition to run these days, but I knew I could at least push Brooklyn in the stroller.

Here she is gearing up for her big ride...

She did great!

Jake decided to ride his bike, so Matt and him stayed and raced together.
Jake made is almost the whole way. Thankfully it was easy for them to turn around and head back!

The stroller walkers pretty much were the last few to cross the finish line.
Here are Brooklyn and I coming in! Woot! Woot!

Everyone kept asking if I felt OK. They all know I am just a few weeks away from having Parker!
I was a little sore the next morning, but I was still all in one piece:) Ha!
Here are Jake and I after the race, cooling off and enjoying the rest of our morning!
I love my racing buddy!

I am hoping that after Parker comes, I can start to get back in shape. I love doing races!
I will have to start out slow again, but I know I can do it! This got me excited:)

A "Berry" Fun Morning:)

This morning I met up with my sister and her crew for a little strawberry pickin' fun!
It was hard work, but we filled our buckets with only the brightest, juiciest, and reddest strawberries we could find!
Jake and Sissy looking for some good ones:)
Poor Sissy also found some ants and got her poor little arms bit up!
Ouch!
Here's the strawberry pickin' gang...
Our buckets were FULL of yummy berries!
Our favorite way to eat them are to pile them high on our cereal in the mornings!
Yum! Yum!

To The Beach!!!

This past weekend our family took a little break from things and headed to the beach!
We visited Ocean Isle Beach, which was BEAUTIFUL! I had never been there before.
This was actually a trip that Matt planned for his basketball team and the kids and I got to tag along. A sweet family from the team owns a beach house here and graciously hosted ALL of us for the weekend!
It was a houseful, but we managed to all pack in somehow:)
The kids had so much fun!
The ocean was still pretty chilly, but they got their little toes wet...
dug in the sand...
and looked for seashells and shark teeth:)
Just like her mommy...a beach bum for sure...
There are few things in life that are better than the beach!

Easter Weekend 2012

What a wonderful time we had all weekend celebrating our RISEN Savior!
Matt and I were able to be apart of something really special Friday night, which was Good Friday. Our church put on something called Secret Church.
It was actually a simulcast with David Platt. It is set up as if we were a group of believers meeting in secret underground, much like believers have to do in closed countries.
David took us through the Bible and shared with us all about suffering. It was so good and I learned a ton!
It was an opportunity for Matt and I to get our hearts and minds ready to celebrate Easter.
Sunday was BEAUTIFUL and such a perfect day to celebrate Easter!
We decided to skip Sunday school and just go to service at our church. It gave us a bit more time to enjoy the morning together as a family. We had breakfast together and the kids got to open their Easter baskets.
Then it was off with our family for the afternoon!
Matt and I (and Parker, ha)...
I love this picture of my family together! It is soooo hard to get a good one these days!
Jake looked so handsome:)
Jake and his favorite daddy...
And Brooklyn in her Easter dress! LOVE:)
Such a cute picture of Daddy and his girl...
My Dad and Mom had us all over to their house.
My sister and her crew were out of town so it was a bit quieter than normal!
Not so many cousins running around this time. We missed them a lot!
Here are all the girls...
And my brother Tim and Serena...
Matt's parents and aunt joined us this year again too.
We enjoyed a ham lunch together with tons of sides and of course the kids had their final Easter egg hunt of the year!
Jake looking high...
And Sissy looking low...
We are thankful for the sacrifice that Jesus paid for us on the cross and are so grateful for his resurrection!
He is NOT here, He IS RISEN!
Happy Easter, 2012

Preparing for Parker

After our BUSY day with playdates on Wednesday, our day was not over! Whew! We had one more very important place to go!
I decided to sign Jake up for a sibling class at the hospital where Parker will be born.
It was a free class and I thought that it would be fun for him!
When we got there we watched a short video about what it will be like when a baby joins the family. Of course he has experience already being a BIG brother to Brooklyn, but he is still little so I thought it would be special for him.
After our video we took a short tour of the hospital. We saw the waiting/playroom where family members can sit and we saw the room where I will be. They showed him the bed I will sleep in and the little bed where Parker will sleep.
We then made our way back where the instructor went over all sorts of things with the kids. She did a great job keeping their attention.
My BIG helpers getting some practice!
She gave all the kids baby dolls and they got to practice holding the baby...
Sissy is saying "sh sh sh" and bouncing her baby in this picture. Ha!
wrapping up the baby...
and even changing the baby! Ha! It was soooo cute:)
At the end of the class all the kids received a certificate!
It was such a fun night for us to be together.
I have to say it made things VERY real to me as I walked through the hospital. I couldn't believe that I was going to actually be there in just a few weeks and holding a sweet baby boy in my arms!
Wow!
