The Lord has given Matt an incredible gift and passion for sports. Not only does he LOVE to participate in just about any kind of sport, he LOVES coaching. He has been coaching for years, but a few years ago he began coaching at HGBCS, which was a dream come true for him! Last year he was asked to take over the varsity girls basketball team and he couldn't have been more excited.
He is dedicated to this team and loves teaching, encouraging, and working with his girls everyday. He sacrifices soooo much to coach them, but he knows it is what God has for him right now. He strives to build unity among his girls and challenges them to become better basketball players and Christians.
The time and commitment it takes to be a head coach is unbelievable. Practices throughout the week, home games, away games, scouting, keeping stats, watching film, reporting to newspapers, organizing camps and workouts, talking to colleges...it is a full time job...and he is only coaching at a high school level! Ha!
I will be the first to say that being the wife of a coach, especially during season, is HARD! I try to go to games, but it is tricky sometimes with two (soon to be three) small kiddos.
I do have to say though, that we are his BIGGEST FANS!
We watch as much of the game as we can (before having to get juice cups and more popcorn) and we cheer the loudest when the game gets close!
We love Coach Daddy and are so very proud of his team!
We are in the last few weeks of the season (woot! woot!) and are looking forward to finishing strong!
