A Basketball Weekend and A Baby

We had a great weekend! It was a bit busy, but lots of fun! It was actually a super pretty weekend outside! We were in the high 60's which made for some fun outside! All of the neighbors were out and kids were everywhere!
Matt took Jake outside and they played for a long time. They pulled out the four wheeler, rode in the wagon, and of course played a little basketball! Brooklyn and I even got out for a bit too!

Saturday afternoon we hosted Matt's basketball team for lunch. They had a big game Saturday afternoon so they ate and hung out with us before the game.

The day ended with a little more basketball...

My dad received some tickets to the Charlotte 49er's game. We knew Jake would LOVE going!

We all had a really fun time.

And this boy was a HUGE help in holding Brooklyn!

Jake enjoying his hot dog dinner...

And Riley ate every last kernel of Uncle Matt's popcorn!

I also got a call this weekend letting me know that my very best friend Marcy was in labor! I thought she was kidding me, but nope...she was on her way to the hospital!

Miss Sophie was born early Friday morning with a head FULL of dark hair!

I am getting to meet her for the first time this morning! I am super excited! We already talked about how we are going to take lots of pictures of our sweet girls together! I hope they will be special friends just like their moms!

What Was I Thinking?

The other day I ran to Target for a quick second. I was on a mission to be back before the kids woke up from a nap, but that little ol' dollar section caught my eye. So I stopped to take a quick peek and I found something I knew my little Jake (and his daddy) would love!

I am not sure if I will regret my decision in buying these swords, but for now they have provided loads of fun for these two!
These boys love to play, wrestle, and tackle each other whenever they can!
They love to be rough and tough, but they love each other and are the best of buddies too!

Jake LOVES to be with Matt and likes to do whatever he does.
Jake always says "follow you Daddy??"
I love these boys so much and are so lucky that they are all mine!

Family, Fun, and of Course...FOOTBALL

This weekend my family got together to celebrate a very special person...
My Mom!
It was her birthday this past Saturday so everyone came to our house for a great big taco night!
It was a lot of fun to have everyone over!

We had tacos with all the toppings, yummy birthday cake, and lots of presents for her to open!
She is THE best mom ever and I am so glad we were able to celebrate HER!
Sunday was my first time back at church since Brooklyn was born.
I didn't put her in the nursery yet. I am still nervous about all those winter germs:)
We had a special service on Sunday for our Pastor, so it worked out ok to keep her with me. She was actually perfect and slept the entire time:)

She did look oh so sweet in her pretty pink dress though, but she didn't even get out of her car seat until we got back home! Ha!
We were lucky to have Matt's brother and his family come for the weekend too!
It was fun for Jake to be with his cousins and it was fun for them to meet Brooklyn for the first time too!
Jake and Rebekah (they really do love each other)!
Matt's family all came over Sunday night to of course watch the REALLY BIG GAME!!!
We ordered pizzas and cheered the Steelers on to a VICTORY!

We are excited for the Steelers to be headed to the Superbowl!

It's going to be a BIG night for sure!

This Was Our Weekend...

This weekend I helped to host a baby shower for my best friend Marcy and her sweet baby girl to be, Sophie. Baby Sophie is due to arrive February 10th and we can't wait!
We had yummy brunch food, played silly games, and Marcy got lots of great baby gifts to get her ready for Sophie's arrival!

Brooklyn came with me to the shower. I thought she looked so sweet in her little pink dress. This was the first time she wore a dress. It was a big day!
Brooklyn and Sophie are going to be the best of friends too, for sure!

I love times like these because it is a chance for me to see many of my good girlfriends. Most of us are friends from church and our college days!

All three of these girlies are preggo with their first babies! Lot's of playmates for sure

Here is a picture of just some of the girls from the shower...
I made a really yummy cake for the shower. It is called honey bun cake. I may have posted this recipe before, but it is soooo yummy I thought I would do it again.

HONEY BUN CAKE

1 box yellow cake mix
4 eggs
3/4 c. cooking oil
2/3 c. water1 c. sour cream
1 c. brown sugar
3 tsp. cinnamon
Mix cake mix, eggs, oil, water and sour cream. In separate bowl mix brown sugar and cinnamon. Pour half of batter in pan, sprinkle half of sugar mixture over batter and swirl it in. Pour remaining batter in pan and sprinkle rest of sugar mixture in and swirl it in.
Bake in 9x13 inch cake pan at 325°F. for 40 minutes or until cake tests done.
GLAZE FOR HONEY BUN CAKE:
4 tbsp. milk
2 c. confectioners' sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
Combine together and pour over hot cake. This cake is super yummy, moist, and easy!

Then Saturday afternoon we had Matt's parents over and some good friends of ours for a pizza party and the Steelers game.

Thankfully the outcome was a good one as we all watched and cheered them on.

One step closer to the Super Bowl!

And then last but not least...
It was a BIG night at our house last night...
Jake slept in his big boy bed for the first time and he did GREAT!
I still was not ready to make the transition, but Matt insisted. We had the bed set up in his room because we had to do something with it to make room for the nursery. I was sure Jake would get out a few times during the night, but once we put him down, we didn't see him until this morning around 8:00!

My sleepy head...

One proud little boy...

A New Way Around Charlotte

There's a new way of getting around Charlotte...

We have had more snow and ice around here which makes for a bit of a mess as it pretty much shuts down the whole city.
Matt got up early yesterday and tried to shovel off our driveway.

He did venture out once to pick up my brother and sisters for a fun day of sledding!

They spent most of yesterday on some big hills near our house. They took Jake with them and of course he loved it! The faster the better!

But today was mostly an indoor day. Way to cold and much more icy!
We spent our time building tents...
Taking naps...
Even I got one in!!!
And just enjoying being together!

Brooklyn Is 1 Month!!!

I know...I can't believe it either!
My sweet baby girl is one month old today!

Brooklyn is so sweet and is such a great baby!
She is growing fast and looks like her big brother more and more everyday!
She likes to be held in her mommy's arms but LOVES to sleep in her daddy's!
She can sometimes get a little fussy during the evening time, but so far nothing that we can't handle.
She loves to eat too! She eats about 4-5 ounces during a feeding and usually eats about
every 3-4 hours.
She is definitely more alert these days and is starting to look around and be a bit more attentive. She has stolen our hearts!
Mommy loves you bunches sweet girl!
Happy 1 Month Birthday To You!!!

Jake and the Chocolate Factory

Everyday that I can, I try to think of something fun for Jake and I to do together while Brooklyn is napping. It helps to keep him busy and I love doing something as just the two of us. So, I was brainstorming the other night and came up with an activity that I like to do with my kids at school (when I am feeling brave). I like to give them all a squirt of shaving cream on their desks and let them practice writing their spelling words in it. They absolutely love this fun activity. I thought I would tweak it just a bit and use something a little more tasty with Jake, so I pulled out some chocolate pudding!
He loved every bite, I mean bit of it:)

It got a little messy, but that just made it more fun!

And if that wasn't enough sweetness for you...how about this???

She was even sweet at 3:00am when she decided she just wanted to be awake for a couple of hours!

Love this girl to pieces!

Big Brother and Little Sister

Life with two kids is busy! I am still learning how to keep up with a busy 2 year old Big Brother and take care of a newborn! My days are usually filled with lots of bottles and endless diapers all while trying to keep a two year old entertained, everyone fed, the house presentable, and the laundry going! By the end of the day I am pretty tired, but that doesn't matter because Little Sister needs to eat!
However, I am LOVING being at home for now with the best two little people in my life!
Jake and I play Candyland, make cookies, color, paint, play playdough, enjoy indoor picnics and I am trying to teach him how to play games on the computer.

He is definitely a little stinker, but I love him!
Brooklyn is just so sweet. She is so far a great baby! She is growing fast though! Several of her clothes are getting a bit small already:) She sleeps well at night and usually gets me up around 1:00am and 4:00am. I really don't think that is too bad. I TRY to sneak in a nap when Jake goes down in the afternoon. Sometimes that works and sometimes it doesn't!
I see a little smile trying to come out!
Love those gummy smiles:)

I couldn't be a prouder mommy!
I love my little blessings!
