These Are The Moments...

These are the moments that I don't ever want to forget...

Jake had pajama day last week at school. Of course he loved it! Who doesn't love staying in their jammies all day?!?!

Slumber parties in the playroom on the weekends. Of course Toy Story is always the choice!

Warm, spring like days when we can run and play outside all day long!
We can't wait for more! Bring On Spring:)

The many smiles, giggles, and rolls that this Lil' Miss brings us!
I can't believe this precious love is mine!
Pure sweetness!

Saturday Morning Cinnamon Sticky Buns

School mornings start early for me, so I don't have time to eat breakfast. When Saturday morning rolls around it is nice to eat something other than a poptart or cold bagel. I found this recipe printed in a magazine today and thought I might try these one weekend.
Cinnamon Sticky Buns
1 cup of packed brown sugar
1/2 cup corn syrup
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 cup coarsely chopped pecans
1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
2 tubes (17.3 ounces each) large refrigerated biscuits
In a saucepan, combine the brown sugar, corn syrup and butter; cook and stir until sugar is disolved. Add the pecans. Spoon into greased 13-by-9-by-2-inch baking pan. In a shallow bowl, combine sugar and cinnamon. Cut each biscuit in half; dip in cinnamon-sugar mixture. Place, cut side down, over brown sugar mixture. Bake at 375 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. Invert onto a serving plate; serve warm. Yeild: 12-16 servings.

Taste and See...

Our church put out a cookbook not to long ago and I knew I wanted a copy.
I love these kinds of cookbooks because most of the recipes are pretty easy and are usually very tasty.

The first recipe I tried was called "Pound Cake Supreme". It turned out soooo yummy!

3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup milk
1 tsp lemon extract
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
1/2 cup Crisco shortening (not oil)
3 cups sugar
5 large eggs
Preheat the oven to 325. Grease a 10" tube pan or bundt pan. In a bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt; set aside. Combine the milk and the extracts; set aside. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, shortening, and sugar until light and fluffy. Add half the milk mixture and blend well. Beginning with the flour mixture, alternately add some of the flour mixture and eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add the rest of the milk mixture. Mix until combined. Pour the batter into the greased pan and bake for 80 minutes, or until the toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Turn out onto a rack and cool completely.

Here is my little pound cake:)
I am going to try some Friendship Bread (no starter dough needed) today since I have the day off! I will let you know how that turns out.
I have one more recipe to share...
I am so thankful that my husband likes to help in the kitchen. One of my favorite things he makes are pancakes, but he is also an AWESOME fajita maker!!!!
Here is his recipe:
Matt's Ultimate Crock pot Fajitas
1 lb boneless chicken breasts
1 Tbsp vegetable oil
1/4 cup water
1 packet fajita season mix (we like Old ElPaso)
1 large red pepper
1 large green pepper
1 sweet onion
flour tortillas
Put oil in bottom of crock pot. Cube chicken and place in crock pot. Cut peppers and onions and place in crock pot. Mix water and seasoning and together. Pour over chicken and vegetables. Cook on low for 4-6 hours.
When done, fill tortilla shells with chicken mixture and top with cheese! Enjoy!

A Little Fruit Loopy

Jake has loved being back at school this week. He has had so much fun playing outside, going to music class, painting, and seeing his friends! I am so lucky I get to peek on him during the day too. His classroom is right down the hall from our lunch room and he eats around the same time we do, so I always make a quick stop at his room to peek! The playground is also right outside my classroom window, so I get to see him play too! One of THE BEST parts of my day is when I get to pick him up. I love seeing him run to the door! He is ready to give me a big hug and tell me about his day! I also love the time I have in the car with him on the way home. Just Jake and I. We talk, we laugh, we sing, we count school buses, and we look for firetrucks!
As soon as we get home we are both ready for a snack. The other day we were snacking on some fruit loops. We had enough, so I put them up. Well, I ran upstairs for a quick second and when I came back downstairs Jake had dumped the whole box out. He told me that he wanted more. Ha!

This picture shows just part of the mess. The rest were ALL over the floor!
It looks like he thought is was funny:)
Gotta love my Bubba:)

A Sock Hop and My Sweeties:)

Happy Valentine's Day!
I hope your day was filled with lots of love!

Today was my first day back to work from my maternity leave. I have to say that it went OK. We are soooo busy each day in second grade that I don't have much time to think about anything other than what we have planned for the day.
I was a bit anxious this last week about heading back. However, one thing that made it a bit easier was knowing that Matt was keeping Brooklyn while he works from home. I wasn't going to have to drop her off somewhere. I am also so very thankful for the extra time I was able to take off. It was soo worth it!
Today was jammed packed with Valentine fun for us at school! All of my students brought Valentine's to pass out to the class. I am once again loaded down with every kind of candy and chocolate available this time of year! Then after lunch the second grade participated in the 15th annual Hallelujah Hop!

Everyone dressed up in their best 50's costumes! I actually found mine at a yard sale this past summer for fifty cents! It was perfect for today!
This is Mrs. Martin and I showing our spirit!

The kids had a blast participating in the limbo, the twist, some cornhole, hula hoop contests, and of course building their own ice cream sundaes!

Here is a picture of my gang this year...

What a fun day to come back on!

Now, for my sweet Valentines...

I love Matt with everything I have. We have been a bit busy and sleep deprived lately, but he is the best. Of course we have our ups and downs, but I love him with all my heart and couldn't imagine my life without him! We somehow make it work and I am so glad we have each other!

And this little guy...
I love him to pieces too. I prayed for him this morning as he headed back to school after being off for several weeks. I was worried about him, but he did great. See the red paper heart in his hand? He made that in Sunday School yesterday and he kept stopping people in the hallway to tell them "I made that"! Ha! He is pretty proud of his Valentine.

And my sweetest Valentine...

I just can't help but love this little missy!
She makes me smile! I missed kissing her warm cheeks today and tickling her chubby legs! Believe me, I made up for it this afternoon when I got home!

I love my family and am so thankful for each of them!
They are the LOVES of my life!

Brooklyn's 2 Month Check Up

Friday morning I took Brooklyn to the doctor for her 2 month check up.
We are so blessed to have a very healthy baby girl!
The doctor asked me all sorts of questions and Brooklyn is right on track!
She is all smiles these days and just within the past week, I have heard more gurgles and coos!
She is full of stories to tell!
The past few nights she has given me some good sleep too! We feed her a bottle around 10 and she goes until 4 or 5! Just in time for me to go back to work!
These first several appointments are SO hard! I love knowing how she is progressing, but I HATE all the shots. Poor baby got 3 in her little leg this visit and one she had to take by mouth! Her legs were sore all afternoon. I know they hurt, but mommy was close by to cuddle and wipe the tears away afterwards!
Brooklyn weighs 13 lbs 14 oz and is just over 23 inches long!

She is "So Big"!
Love her!

Two Quick Thoughts

Here are two quick thoughts for today...

1. I stumbled upon these cute Valentine treats the other day. I haven't made them yet, but I think I will give them a try this weekend and share them with a few of my friends for Valentine's Day. I found out how to make them here.

2. I also found this really cool website as I was browsing around the other day. It seemed to have tons of really cute and really easy ideas for crafts, food, and other things! I only took a quick peek, but I hope to visit again!

I Just Can't Help But...

Love this little boy...

We have had so much fun over the past few weeks hanging out all day every day while I have been out of school.
Back in December we pulled Jake out of school since I was going to be home. We were needing to save some money and this seemed like one way we could. Our thoughts were that having 2 in daycare was just not possible and we thought Matt could just try to keep them for the last few months of school and then I would be out for the summer. But Matt's real estate has picked up and we realized that our plan just wasn't going to work. So, last week we re enrolled Jake back in school.

I am so excited for him! He will go right back into his same class and have his same teacher, Ms. Liz (who I love)!!! And he is super excited to be able to use his Spiderman backpack that Santa brought him for Christmas!
Jake and I have been having some big fun in the kitchen lately. (I will post some of the recipes soon because they have turned out really well.)
But yesterday was a Jello-jiggler day!
We pulled out the dinosaur cutters and got busy!
Jake has never tried a jiggler before. He was a little skeptical. They do feel a bit funny:)

He ate a few bites of it, but I still think he isn't to sure about it, ha!
We had a super fun time together and I am so glad he gets to go to school with me on Monday!

Brooklyn Is 2 Months!

Today my sweet girl is 2 months old!
I am loving every minute I get to spend with her! She is such a great baby! I wish I could just sit and hold her all day! Those squishy cheeks are just so kissable!

As you can see she is still a great eater. She now eats between 5 and 6 oz every 3-4 hours. She is sleeping better at night too. She can give me about a 5 hour stretch at first, but usually wakes up 3 hours (almost to the minute) for the second time.
A lot of her 0-3 month clothes are getting a bit snug. Most of the pants still fit, but I have pulled several 3-6 month sizes out (it's that big ol' jelly belly)!

This is the t-shirt she wore to watch the Superbowl in last night. Even though the outcome wasn't pretty, she looked adorable! Ha!
She is so happy all the time and will smile at you when you talk to her. She works her little tongue like she wants to talk, but hasn't made much noise yet.
She loves her swing and will usually nap in it for the morning. I am so glad she likes it because it gives me a chance to have my hands free to do something with Jake or clean up the breakfast dishes:)
This is my last week of maternity leave. It really just hit me last night. I am very anxious inside about leaving her. I know that I have done it before, but man, it is the worst feeling ever! I am so thankful that my job allows me to have a full summer off though!
That's what I am working towards.
I will be sure to enjoy every moment with my little love this week.
Happy 2 months sweet Brooklyn!
I love you forever and always!

A Valentine Line

We have been busy around our house getting ready for Valentine's Day!
This is one of my favorite holidays. I love to make homemade Valentines and do little things to make my family and friends feel loved!

This year Jake and I got started a bit early. Because I have been home on maternity leave we have enjoyed spending the afternoons together creating a special present for Matt...

We created a "Valentine Line".

Each day, starting today and going through Valentine's Day, Matt has something special on the line for him to open!

Today he received the directions for the Valentine Line which said...

"There's no way that we can say how much we love you in just one day.

We will take the next few dates because it's you we celebrate!"

It didn't cost much money to create, but we wanted him to know how much we love and appreciate him!

And here is a sweet picture of his littlest Valentine this year...

Such a sweetie!
