Covering Him From Head To Toe

Matt and I have been faced with making some big decisions lately. Things related to our jobs, our house, and our family. We have continually been on our knees seeking the Father. We have been forced to walk by faith and completely lean on Him.
I have always had a burden to pray, really pray, for my husband. I don't always do a good job at it, but it is my heart. As the leader of my home, Matt carries a lot of responsibility. It is my job to partner with him and cover him in prayer. I found this neat guide to help me pray for him in all aspects of his life.

Dear Lord, I pray for my husband from head to toe...
His Head~ That he will look to You as Lord of his life (1 Corinthians 11:3)
His Mind~ That he will have the mind of Christ and think as the Holy Spirit would lead him and not the the flesh (1 Corinthians 2:16)
His Eyes~ That You will keep his eyes from temptation and that he will turn his eyes from sin (Matthew 6:13, Mark 9:47)
His Ears~ That he will hear Your still small voice instructing him (1 Kings 19:12, Psalm 32:8)
His Mouth~ That his words will be pleasing to you (Proverbs 19:1)
His Neck~ That he will humble himself before You and be strong, courageous, and careful to do everything written in Your Word so that he will be prosperous and successful (James 4:10, Joshua 1:8-9)
His Heart~ That he will love and trust you with his whole heart (Deuteronomy 6:5, Proverbs 3:5)
His Arms~ That You will be his strength (Psalm 73:26)
His Hands~ That he will enjoy the work of his hands and see it as a gift from You (Ecclesiastes 3:13, 3:19)
His Feet~ That You will order his steps and that he will walk in Your truth (Proverbs 4:25, Psalm 26:3)

Nothing Could Be Finer Than To Be In Carolina!

What a BEAUTIFUL weekend we have had here in N.C! I took the day off of work on Friday and I couldn't have picked a better day! The weather was perfect! We didn't have much on our agenda, so we just bummed around and enjoyed being together. Friday afternoon I met up with my friend Heather to hit the largest consignment sale ever! It is called the Tot Trade Show. It is located in a HUGE arena not to far from me. I found tons of goodies for Jake! I think he is all set for the warmer months ahead. This is just a small sample of what I found...
Such cute stuff and such great deals:)
For most of the day Saturday, Jake and I were on our own. Matt has been REALLY busy with work, which is a good thing, but when you're in the real estate business it is usually nights and weekends. I am kind of used to it now though. Since the weather was just amazing we of course hit the park!

Jake is now big enough to run and play all over the place! He loves being outside and had a great time getting dirty! I had a hard time getting a good picture because he doesn't like to slow down one bit:)!
When we got home it seemed like Matt had taken a little break to get a few boxes of these...

He knows my favorite is Thin Mints and his are Trefoils! Yummy!
Saturday evening we headed to my sister's house to help her celebrate her 30th birthday! Her birthday is actually on Valentine's Day, but with so many people and so many schedules that was the first time we could get everyone together. We had lots of pizza, lots of excitement (wink), and lots of fun!
We all try to bring a little something to share when we all get together. I made a delicious strawberry trifle. I didn't get a chance to take a picture of it. It was half way gone before I remembered. Oops!

With the weather this weekend being so pretty and bright red strawberries out for sale, I can only hope this means one things...spring is on the way!

A Little More Butter Ya'll

So every now and then Matt and I like to watch Food Network. We have a few favorites and she is one of them...

(picture from google.com)

Who doesn't like Paula Deen, right? Well, I just so happened to catch a commercial advertising her appearance right here in our city! Since Matt likes to cook and she is just a fun person, I decided to check into tickets. Ha! I thought they would be maybe $50.oo or so to go. No way! They START at $95.00 and go all the way up to $450.00! Oh. My. Stars! For that price she should come and cook dinner at my house! So needless to say, we won't be going to see Paula anytime soon. I will have to stick with my Kraft Food and Family recipes! Speaking of which I have one to share with you! It is called Loaded Baked Potato Soup. With the crazy winter weather we have been having, it just might make a great dinner for you this week!

(picture from google.com)

What You Need:
1 lb. baking potatoes (about 2), cubed
1 can (14-1/2 oz.) fat-free reduced-sodium chicken broth
1 cup milk
3 slices OSCAR MAYER Bacon, cooked, crumbled and divided
1 cup KRAFT Shredded Cheddar Cheese, divided
1 green onion sliced, divided
1/4 cup BREAKSTONE'S or KNUDSEN Sour Cream

Make It:
MICROWAVE potatoes in large microwaveable bowl on HIGH 5 min., stirring after 2-1/2 min. Stir in broth and milk. Microwave 10 min., stirring after 5 min. Carefully crush potatoes with potato masher.
RESERVE 2 Tbsp. each bacon and cheese and 1 Tbsp. onions for topping. Stir remaining bacon, cheese and onions into soup.
SERVE topped with reserved bacon, cheese, onions and sour cream.

This recipe was SOOOO easy and very yummy!

I am SO excited because today was my FRIDAY! I took the day off tomorrow. I don't really have any big plans except hanging out with Matt and Jake. I am meeting a friend of mine, Heather, to do a little consignment sale shopping a little later on in the afternoon. She is expecting a baby boy, Mason, in just a few weeks.
My sister Allison asked for at least one picture of Jake in this post so here you go! This was taken just a few weeks ago while we were having fun at the park!

Love him and can't wait to hang out tomorrow! No school for us! Yippy!

All We Need Is LOVE!

One of the things I love most about Valentine's day is that it is simple. Paper hearts, valentine love notes, and spending quality time together with the ones you love (o.k. maybe a few chocolates here and there).
Friday afternoon at school was spent having our Valentine party. Jake had a little Valentine fun in his class too. We both came home loaded down with lots and lots of candy and feeling very, very loved!
Here is one of my sweet Valentines...looks sweet enough to eat!
Jake had so much fun looking through his goody bag...of course all the M&M's were his favorite!
This was the very cute Valentine that Jake made for me and of course it made it front and center on the fridge!
When I woke up Sunday morning I went downstairs to find a plate of yummy, PINK pancakes. I have said it before, but Matt makes the best pancakes ever! He knows how to make me happy!

I had decided that I didn't want to go out anywhere for Valentine's Day. We are always so busy and on the go and I just wanted to stay home with both my Valentines. I had no idea though that we would be taking a trip here...
Jake had a fever all day Saturday. It finally broke by Saturday night, but he just wasn't feeling himself. I wanted to make sure his little ears were OK and that everything checked out OK. Thankfully everything did and it would just have to run its course. Needless to say, I spent the majority of my day lovin on my little guy.
Matt and I did manage to sneak in a quick, but delicious steak and chicken dinner, complete with baked potatoes and french bread:)
Earlier in the day I made Matt a strawberry cake with rainbow chip icing. We invited Matt's parents over in the evening for some valentine cake.
Papa and Memaw loving on Jake.
XOXOXOX!
I love both of my Valentines with all my heart! I am so glad that they are, and will always be mine!

XOXOXOXOXOXOXOX

Be My Valentine

I have had some fun with my class this week doing some Valentine crafts. My classroom is
covered with Valentine fun! Matt and I put our house on the market last week, so I didn't put any decorations up in our house. I don't have many, but I usually like to do a little something. It is hard enough keeping it clean without all the extra decor:)
Here are some of our "LOVEly" creations...
Valentine Heart People...always a classic.

Sweet Valentine cards made with hand prints and lots of **glitter**!

These were probably my favorite Valentine craft.
I have them all hung up on one of my classroom windows.

Jake has also been busy in his class making me sweet Valentines.
He brought this one home today and wanted to hang it on the fridge...
I am so excited to also be making this Valentine treat...

White Chocolate Valentine Popcorn.
I am going to be making it for Jake's teachers, and a few of my sweet friends and co-workers! I got the recipe from The Crafty Crow. I love looking at all their GREAT ideas!
Hope these ideas get you in the Valentine mood!
XOXOXOX!

Super Sunday And The Superbowl

We had a great time at church yesterday. After an amazing time of worship, our pastor spoke on loving God with ALL our hearts, All our soul, All our minds, and ALL our strength from Deuteronomy 6:4-9. I learned so much from him as he broke down each verse for us! It was a great message and was very convicting! So many times we say we love God with all that we are, but what does that really mean and do we really do it? Ouch!
I just had to take a quick picture of my boys before the football gear came out. I thought they both looked so handsome! And I love Jake's SMILE:)!
Much of our afternoon was spent lounging around and napping. I love a good Sunday afternoon nap. I try to get a little extra rest before another busy school week begins!
After we woke up we took Jake outside to play a little. It was a little chilly, but he never seems to mind. Jake and Daddy played a little football and then got ready for the big game.
I haven't been feeling 100% lately, so the three of us decided to have our own Superbowl party. We grilled out hot dogs and watched the commercials (and the game) in our p.j's!
Matt and I had a little competition going on between the two of us...

Matt won, so unfortunately I owe him a 5 minute foot rub...ugh.
It was back to school today. Mondays are always crazy! All the kids were talking about the game and the commercials too. Yeah!!! for a great weekend and Yeah!!! that I survived another football season!

6 More Weeks Y'all...

Today is Groundhog Day, and just in case we haven't had enough, we can expect winter to be around for 6 more weeks. Ugh. I am such a warm weather girl and can't wait until at least spring.
Good ol' Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow this morning.

Since we have been staying indoors for the past several days I have been busy in the kitchen making some goodies. Here is a great recipe for a quick weeknight dessert. It is a no bake recipe and most of the ingredients are things you probably have around already!
Recipe for Kit Kat Bars

These kit kat bars are supposed to taste like the candy bar Kit Kat bars. They do have the nice chocolatey crunch of a Kit Kat bar, but these kit kat bars have more of a salty-sweet flavor than the candy bar Kit Kat bars. Either way, these kit kat bars are yummy!

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients:
60 buttery crackers, such as Keebler Club Crackers
3/4 cup butter
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup firmly-packed brown sugar
1/3 cup milk
1-1/2 cups crushed graham crackers
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup peanut butter

Preparation:
Butter a 9 x 13 baking dish. Line with a layer of crackers.

In a small saucepan, bring butter, sugars and milk together to a boil over medium heat. Stir in crushed graham crackers. Let boil 5 minutes.

Pour half of the sugar mixture over the crackers. Cover with another layer of crackers, pressing down lightly. Pour remaining syrup mixture over crackers, smoothing to coat.

Top with a third layer of crackers, pressing lightly.

Place chocolate chips and peanut butter in a microwave-safe dish. Heat on high 30 seconds. Stir and repeat until chips are melted. (Alternatively, melt chocolate chips and peanut butter in a saucepan over low heat.)

Pour evenly over the top layer of crackers, making sure the crackers are completely covered.

Refrigerate until kit kat bars are firm. Makes 36 kit kat bars.
