Happy Monday!

"Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the EVERLASTING GOD, the CREATOR of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who HOPE in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."
Isaiah 40:28-31
Just a bit of encouragement from the Lord for YOU today!
Happy Monday!

We've Got Spirit Yes We Do!

This past week at school was SPIRIT WEEK! We all had a blast participating in all the action! Our school is FULL of SCHOOL SPIRIT! Each day was a different theme. Monday was American Pride Day. We all dressed up in our red, white and blue! Tuesday was character day. My assistant and I were Thing 1 and Thing 2. I wish I had gotten a picture of us:)!

Wednesday was TEAM DAY! Even though Jake's class didn't participate, we still sent him in his Steeler jersey too! Here we are showing our school spirit!

Thursday was TACKY DAY! This day is always so much fun! And Friday was SPIRIT DAY! We were able to wear all of our HG Lions gear.
All this SPIRIT led up to the BIG homecoming game last night. Jake and I went for a bit, but he was FULL of energy and kept running everywhere, including onto the field! He kept me busy so we left at half time (the only part I really wanted to see because they crowned the Homecoming King and Queen. Ugh!)
The only time he would actually sit for a minute to watch the game was when I pulled out a snack!

We had a great week at school, but are ALL ready for the weekend!

Just A Few Thoughts For The Day

1. Today is the very first day of Fall! Even though it was a scorcher outside, it is indeed a new season. Hopefully a bit of cooler weather is on the way!

I am waiting to set out all my fall decorations. I have so many pumpkins and fall scented candles I can't wait to use!
2. Today was "See You At The Pole". I am not sure if any students took part in it from my school, but I heard about it on the radio this morning and took some time to pray for my country, my school, my family and my friends. This is the 20th year that SYATP has taken place on campuses all around the country. Students gathered on school campuses around the flagpole to pray.

The 2010 See You at the Pole theme was Reveal based on the Lord's Prayer in Matthew 6:9–13.
The Message Bible states the Lord’s Prayer like this:
With a God like this loving you, you can pray very simply. Like this: Our Father in heaven, Reveal who you are. Set the world right; Do what's best—as above, so below. Keep us alive with three square meals. Keep us forgiven with you and forgiving others. Keep us safe from ourselves and the Devil. You're in charge! You can do anything you want! You're ablaze in beauty! Yes. Yes. Yes.
Students were to ask God to REVEAL Who He is to their campus and to pray for AWAKENING.
Go here to read more about today.

3. Since Matt has been in real estate we have learned to trust God with our a BIG way. There have been times where on paper, things just didn't make sense. But God has ALWAYS been God and he cares about our every need. We haven't been without much and even though we have had to watch our spending from time to time we have truly been blessed with what we have. Well, as everyone knows the real estate market couldn't be any worse which means we are facing some BIG decisions right now. We are praying that God would show us exactly what he wants us to do. Tomorrow Matt begins the maternity leave for the P.E. teacher at our school. He was also offered another small, potential position working for the school. If it does all work out, between teaching, coaching, and possibly this new job, it means a lot of schedule changes for us. It is going to be hard, but I am trying to trust the Lord. School has been really busy for me and at times VERY overwhelming. I just don't know how it is all going to work out. But as I am reminded as I teach my Bible lessons to my class on Moses...if God can part the Red Sea, He can do BIG things for me too!

Grandparent's Day 2010

This past week at school we celebrated Grandparent's Day by having a special chapel service in their honor. I remember back when I was in elementary school and I was able to invite my grandparents to come and see me at school and we could participate in special activities together. My grandparents have always been a huge part of my life. One set lives here and the other set in Michigan, but I am so thankful for all of them and the investment that they have made in my life.

My Grandpa and Grandma (my mom's parents) live with my parents now which means I get to see them pretty often. We stop by there on occasion for a quick visit, a dinner, or a family get together. I have made so many memories with the two of them.

There are way to many to list, but a few of the best would be:

1. We spent lots of Friday nights together eating out and shopping for a few new outfits at the mall! Then we would head back to their house for waffle ice cream sandwiches (these deserve a post all to themselves) and a sleepover!

2. Years and years of endless summer fun at Surfside Beach!

3. Every year we would celebrate Christmas Eve at their house. It would be a houseful, but we would all cram in and open up all our gifts!

My dad's parent's live a bit further away so we don't get to see them all that often. The memories that I have though are still extra special to me.

1. Spending endless hours in their pool over the summer and getting pool toe! We loved the water so much, but we had to wear socks to keep our toes from hurting!

2. Getting all bundled up during our winter visits in Grandma's clothes because living here in NC meant we did not have the proper attire!

3. Watching countless episodes of "The Cosby Show"! Grandma would tape them all for us and we would watch them over and over!

What a blessing to have such amazing Grandparents in my life! I am so thankful for them and the impact they have had on my life!

I love you ALL!

Happy Grandparent's Day 2010!

Jake and Brooklyn :)

Yesterday Jake turned 23 months...that means next month he will be 2 years old! That is just so crazy to me! If you ask him how old he will be on his birthday he tells you "2"! He is still all boy. He loves to play...all the time! He also loves school! Once he gets settled each morning (he always sheds a few tears at first) he plays, goes to music class, paints, colors with markers (he LOVES this), eats lunch and takes an afternoon nap on his cot! He comes home with an art project every day and is always so proud of his work:)!
Now that it is getting a bit cooler more and more of our neighbors fill the cul-de-sac each afternoon and evening to play. You can't drive down our street without seeing a sea of scooters, bats and balls, or power wheels! We bought Jake a four wheeler a few months ago. He liked it but preferred to just watch the other big kids ride. Well, something clicked the other night and he realized that it looked kind of fun. Now, not only is his four wheeler a hit, but he LOVED this pink corvette too! He still has a little trouble steering which mean Matt and I have to do a lot of towing:)

The evenings are always a fun time because after a full day of school for both of us and an afternoon of playing outside, we get to cuddle up, play games, and read books!
I bought the game "Let's Go Fishing" at a yard sale for my second graders at school, but it never made it there because Jake LOVED it! He wants to play ALL. THE. TIME! Ha!

I love this boy with all of my heart!
Let the party planning begin!
And in Baby News...
I went to the doctor yesterday for my sweet Brooklyn. It was my regular check up along with my glucose test. Everything is looking good and I am assuming my test came back looking good because I haven't heard anything today. I am now scheduled to see my doctor every two weeks! I can't believe I am already to that point! We still haven't done anything nursery wise. I guess I should at least start thinking about it! Ha!
I am so thankful for my 2 babies!

Two Peas In A Pod

I have had so many great girlfriends in my lifetime, but none quite like my BEST friend Marcy. We have been friends for about 10 years. We met at church in the college ministry and have been through thick and thin together. We don't get to see each other all that often even though we live just a few minutes apart. Life is busy, but we try to chat at least a few times a week even if it is just a quick hello and a hope you're doing OK kind of thing!

Now, we are getting to experiencing something extra special together. We are both becoming mom's for the second time! Marcy is just a few weeks behind me. I am due in December and she is in February.

Here we are at 19 and 27 weeks!
Last week she hosted a little get together/reveal party at her house. Both she and her husband Eric have been just waiting for this big day!
We all gathered together and waited to see what the inside of the cake looked like.
Was it going to be pink or blue???
Marcy cut the cake and we all saw the PINK! It's a girl!
We are thrilled to both be having girls who will grow up together and hopefully be close friends just like their mammas!

A Productive Weekend

I can't believe that it's Sunday night and our weekend is already over. I think I always feel this way! Where does the weekend go? While we had lots of fun, I was also very productive. I spent pretty much all day Saturday cleaning my house. Matt worked on the outside and I worked on the inside. I scrubbed everything down, cleaned every nook and cranny, and finished loads of laundry.

I have also been in the mood for some pumpkin bread so I made a few loaves for us to enjoy. Friday, a little girl from my class brought me a pumpkin doughnut from Dunkin Doughnuts so I think that, along with the cooler temps did it for me:)!
I have a great recipe that I will share for pumpkin bread sometime because it is so moist and tasty!
Sunday the three of us were up early and off to church! We heard another great message from our pastor on building healthy families. Specifically, this week was on marriage. Matt and I were challenged in so many ways and have been thinking about how we can make our home and marriage more Christ-centered.

Every other Sunday I take a turn serving in the nursery. This week was my turn which I don't mind at all because I get to work in Jake's class. He LOVES it when mommy is his teacher!
After a great morning of worship we came home and enjoyed an afternoon of homemade chili with Matt's parents, some Steeler football, and an afternoon nap!
We also have the county fair going on this week! We were going to try to go last night, but the weather was just a little drizzly so we headed there for a little bit of fun tonight.

We enjoyed walking around and taking in some of the things the fair had to offer...
like the barn animals...

Jake thought it was so fun to feed the goats!
(I think it's gross! Yuck!)
We spent most of our time in the "barn", but then the smell started to get to us:)!

So, we headed to watch "Robinson's Racing Pigs". We saw this show last year and thought it was pretty funny.

They also competed in a swimming competition! Ha!

After a full weekend everything is in order for yet another busy week. Matt and I were just talking about how much we have going on this week. It makes me overwhelmed and tired just thinking about it!

A Minivan Mommy

Matt and I had been discussing how nice it would be to get a minivan, but the thing is, I HATE buying cars. I just get so nervous about the payments and if it will end up being a lemon. We have always had good luck, but you just never know. Well, about two weeks ago Matt put my car on Craig's list just to see what would happen. That weekend we got a call about it and the girl loved it. She wanted to see it again a few days later with her dad and they brought us the money on the spot. Yikes! While that was really nice, it left us in a bit of a predicament! I had no car! So that weekend, like it or not, I was going minivan shopping. I really didn't care if it had all the bells and whistles. I just wanted low miles and a good deal.
We ended up finding this one...

A Honda Odyssey! It was exactly what we were looking for, color and all and we love Hondas!
Sometimes it feels a little big because it is mostly just Jake and I that ride in it, but with a new baby on the way, I know it will be really nice to have.

So Long Summer and So Long Steven...

It was so nice to have a three day weekend. I was able to get so much accomplished around my house and still have plenty of time to have fun, relax, and hang out with my family! It is sad to see summertime come to an end, but since I am back in school now, I am ready for fall!
Since the weather has been a bit cooler these last few days we thought it would be fun to make a trip to the park on Monday. We haven't been there lately because it has been way to hot. Well, we didn't make it there very long because the temperature was a bit hotter than I thought. We were sweating in no time!
Jake enjoyed playing for a bit and climbing on the equipment!

He is such a big boy!

Daddy had fun playing too!
Saturday night was a bittersweet time for our family. My brother Steven accepted a job offer in London and will be there for two years. He will get to come home at Christmas time though which is perfect because he will be here to see Brooklyn when she is born.
This job is a great opportunity for him and we are so excited to see all that God has planned.
We decided to take a HUGE group photo of all of us together...
Yes, this is EVERYONE! The gang is all here!
What a wonderful blessing family is!
I am so thankful for the times that we get to spend together!

It's Not Over Yet...

So this weekend has been jam packed with fun! It started out with the home opening game of Friday night football at Hickory Grove. I was pretty tired from such a busy week at school, but we wanted to cheer our Lions on! Jake of course had a blast running around everywhere and eating cheeseburgers and slushies! The weather was so nice for an evening out under the lights!
The three of us showing some school spirit!

"Go Lions"!

We weren't able to stay for the whole game, but the Lions pulled out a VICTORY!!!

Then Saturday was a night out with the girls for me...
Two of my sisters along with a few friends headed out for a dinner and a show. We went to see "Mary Poppins".
It was soooo good and a fun night out!

We all had such a great time! I have seen a few musicals and this was definitely one of my favorites!

Sunday evening we were out and about again...
We decided to head to the little town of Matthews for their annual Labor Day festival.

The weather has been gorgeous all weekend. We have been enjoying the cooler temps for sure!
Our first stop was the fire station for a closer look at the fire trucks which was the highlight for Jake.

My sisters came along with us too!

We enjoyed just walking around and taking in all the festivities!

And of course we made a stop by the cotton candy booth for a final treat!

The best part of the whole weekend is that it's not over yet!!! Woot! Woot! We still have one more day! I hope to sleep in just a little and then get a few things done around my house! It is so nice to know that I don't have to set my alarm and I don't have to pack a lunch!

I love long weekends!
