Simply Sweet

A few weeks ago Jake had Spring pictures taken at school. I wasn't planning to buy any but when I saw them, I just couldn't resist. I am not a huge fan of "posed" pictures, but they will be fun to look back on one day!
A typical Jake expression...

Ok...I have had enough...

I love this boy with my whole heart. He is so sweet and absolutely precious to me!
I love you handsome boy!

A Great Weekend With My Boys...

This past Friday night Matt and I had a date night to celebrate our anniversary. My sister Allison helped us out with Jake and we had a quiet dinner by ourselves. I LOVE my Jake, but taking him to a restaurant is NOT an easy task. Most of the time Matt and I end up eating by ourselves because one of us is trying to keep Jake occupied!
We had a hard time deciding where to go, but we ended up here...

We had eaten here a long time ago while we were dating. It is kind of a neat place in the downtown area. After we finished eating we were looking for a place for a sweet treat. We were both in the mood for this...

We just sat and chatted together! It was so nice. Don't worry, we didn't eat them ALL on our own. We did share with Jake and Allison when we got home:)!

On Saturday morning we headed to a place right near our house called Romp and Roll. I have been looking for something fun to do with Jake for the summer time and this is the perfect place. We went for our free trial class this past Saturday and Jake LOVED it!
Of course he did...he loves to play, play, play!

There was so much to see and do!

This was probably his favorite activity...
He LOVES basketball!

We don't start for a couple of weeks, but we are looking forward to all the fun!

We Have Made It!!!

I can hardly believe that it has been 4 years! The years have gone by so quickly! We have experienced lots of ups and downs, but somehow we have made it all work out and we are still going strong. I am so happy that God chose us to be together. We couldn't be more opposite (and I mean in every way possible) but we are best friends and love spending time together. Now I will admit that our dating years were a little rocky and many people doubted us, but we have proven them wrong!
I love you, Matt with all my heart and I am thrilled that I get to do life with you!
You are an amazing husband and father and I appreciate all that you do!
Happy 4 Year Anniversary!

So...I am very proud of my husband. Today he was officially offered the Hickory Grove varsity girl's head coach position. If any of you know Matt at all you know that coaching is his dream job! God has continually opened up doors for him to grow and learn more and more about coaching and he is absolutely passionate about the game and his players. His desire is to influence them not only through the game of basketball, but also in their walk with Christ. Just because we work at a Christian school does not mean there are not opportunities to share the Lord with students. Over the last few weeks I have had players and parents come to ME and ask if he was coaching. They want to play for Coach Trent! Coaching is a very stressful and demanding job, but I completely support him and couldn't be more thrilled for him!
GOOOO Lions!!!

A Very Important Title...Mom

We had a very special time celebrating our moms this weekend and I got spoiled a little bit too! Sunday morning we headed to South End to Pikes. Pikes is known for their Mother's Day brunch and boy, did they live up to it again this year!

We ate our share of fresh fruit, bacon, eggs, muffins, and just about any other breakfast item you can think of. We arrived just in time because when we left the crowds were forming!

We were able to celebrate and enjoy brunch with Matt's parents.
Matt and his Mom.

My little man and me:)
Jake loved the trolley that would pass by. It is always hard to get a picture of him and even harder when we were right by the trolley tracks:)

Jake made this sweet picture for me. I love anything with his hand print on it. I will cherish it forever! I love that he calls me mommy.
After our brunch and an afternoon nap, we headed to my mom's house to celebrate some more. We had a cookout with the entire gang which is always loads of fun!

My mom is extra special to me. She is a wonderful example of a mother. I love her with all my heart and I hope to always make her proud.
She has so much love in her heart for all her kiddos and now all of her grandchildren too! She is always there to talk to, even if I do call 10x a day and she is always ready to welcome us when we invite ourselves over for dinner!
I love her and am so glad we got to celebrate Mother's Day together!

Look What Happens When...

You send a hungry husband and an 18 month old to Wal-Mart?...

Somehow we ended up with a house FULL of sweet treats! I hate when these are brought in the house because I have a huge sweet tooth and these are major temptations...Ugh!
And. Look. At. This.
Many of the kids in our neighborhood have these toys and Jake loves them. These are pretty expensive so we have been on the look out for a great deal. Matt happened to come upon a bargain at Wal-Mart so he came home with this...
He is still learning to steer clear of mailboxes and people. He does have a nice bump on his head already from a small accident and Spring pictures are today!
Oh well!

Beachfest 2010

The place that I absolutely love the most is the BEACH! I am so glad that summertime is almost here and that means hot weather, sand, and water! To get us ready we headed to Beachfest 2010 this weekend put on by the town of Matthews which is not to far from us. We had been looking for something fun to do as a family because we have been so busy lately and this was the perfect choice! We tried to go last year, but we brought the rain with us. This year it was just right!
Vendors lined the street selling just about anything you could imagine!
We found a little place to sit and enjoy our dinner. Look at those chips Matt bought. Ugh!
Jake had the best time being outside and chowing down on his pizza!
They had a place to play some beach volleyball, so we got to enjoy a little sand in between our toes!
And take a look at this sandcastle!
Jake found this police car patrolling the festival and the policeman was kind enough to let him get in and pretend he was driving:)!

After we walked around a bit, we headed over to the park and enjoyed some beach music. Everyone had lawn chairs and blankets and relaxed on the grass!

So long Beachfest...We are officially in the beach mood and ready for summertime:)!
