Boom, Bam, Bang In Your Mouth!

This morning I was searching the Internet for a fun Fourth of July treat for me to make. I normally make the traditional flag cake, which is yummy, but I wanted something a little different. I ended up stumbling on to noblepig.com and I found this cute idea!
Now, the website gave the recipe on how to make these cupcakes from scratch, but I think I will just pick up a box of the funfetti and take the easy way out. I already have a refrigerator full of raspberries and blueberries! They are on sale at many grocery stores this week!
The special ingredient in these treats are the Pop Rocks! What a clever idea for the 4th!

The 4th of July is my favorite holiday. I spent some time yesterday decorating my house for the upcoming weekend! Now we will have a fun treat to enjoy too!

Does Anyone Want To Do The Chicken Dance?

One of my favorite places to grab a quick bite to eat is Chick-fil-a. Yesterday Matt stopped there to bring us home a chicken biscuit for breakfast, but before he left I was of course looking for a coupon! I didn't find one for us to use yesterday, but I did come across this...

FREE meal if you dress like a cow…
Chick-fil-A restaurants are offering a FREE meal to their customers on July 10th, when you dress up as a cow. This is in honor of cow appreciation day. They even allow you to print off your own cow started kit, cow ears, nose, spots, tail and a sign that reads “eat mor chikin”!

Go here for more info...http://cowappreciationday.com/

Yeah for FREE chicken!

Just Making Him Sweeter!

The other day Matt took Jake and I to a little ice cream place right up the road called Grampy's. It was a really HOT day so an ice cream treat seemed like the perfect choice!
I have a huge sweet tooth and...
I think Jake does too!

He wasn't sure what to think after it was gone!

A Very Special Day

Yesterday was a very special day for Matt! It was his first Father's Day.
We had a super fun day celebrating.
I had been thinking for a few weeks what I wanted to do for him. Since I don't grill (Matt does all that), I thought I can do pizza! So after church we stopped and picked up some pizza and breadsticks.
Matt lovin' on his best buddy!
"Daddy do you like it?"
Matt had lots of sweet gifts to open. Jake had worked on a project with Mrs. Stacey a while back. Matt didn't want to open it until yesterday!
After our pizza party, we had dirt cake for dessert. I know boys like to make messes with their dads, so I thought it would be a perfect dessert! I think it turned out pretty cute and delicious!

Runners...Take Your Mark!

"Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith."
Hebrews 12:1
For the past few weeks my sister Allison and I have been training for a 5k run. I have done a few in the past, but it had been awhile. I wanted her to run this one with me. This was her first one and she did great! I was so proud of her!

We got up very early this morning and headed out to Freedom Park for the Summer Breeze 5K.
Here we are before the race.

Here is Jake and I about to cross the finish line! I pushed him in the stroller throughout the race. He did pretty good. It was a little tough pushing him up the hills, but I made it! I was so proud of myself!

(Matt snapped this picture as he was asking me where Allison was. I was saying "I don't know":)!

And here comes Allison!! YOU GO GIRL!

We made it!

Allison cooling down with her new IPOD:)!

I saw a little girl I taught two years ago. Her name is Maren. She completed the race with her mom. They were also there when I ran my half marathon a few years back!

We all had a super fun morning and feel great now that we completed the race!
I also need to say a big THANK YOU to Matt for getting up soooo early on a Saturday morning to cheer us on! I know that you gave up your day of football to come! I appreciate you and love you so much!

Happy Birthdays and Get Togethers!

Yesterday was a fun filled, busy day for Jake and I. We had places to go and people to see!!Yesterday was my sister's 18Th birthday! We called her bright and early in the morning while she was on her way to work. We told her that we would plan on stopping by later on that evening to see her. I cannot believe that she is 18! She just graduated from high school and is on her way to play soccer for college!
I have 3 awesome sisters who I love very much! I am so lucky that I have them!
Happy Birthday, KK!!
Then Jake and I met up with some VERY special people whom I haven't seen in a while. The Kendalls and the Pooles are two of my favorite families. I used to be at there houses just about every weekend babysitting for them! I have known these guys for a very, very, very long time!
Mrs. Kendall and Mrs. Poole
They had never met Jake before so we thought we would meet up for a yummy
lunch at Sweet T's. It was also little Gracie's 5th birthday! I remember when she was born! What a fun way to celebrate such a special day!
(Me, Kristin, Gracie, Jake, Ryan and Maddie)
Here I am with almost all the kiddos. We were missing Bradley who was off at basketball camp.
They are all getting so big!
Since we were on that side if town, I decided to make one more stop to see my Grandparents. Jake loves getting into all of Grandma's pretty things:)!
Look at Jake smiling! He loves his Grandpa and Grandma!
We had a super fun day seeing everyone! We were worn out by the time we got home! Whew!

Ready, Set...I'm On The Go!

Today Jake is 8 months old! He is oh so fun and is becoming such a big boy! He is definitely becoming mobile and is now into EVERYTHING! If I take my eyes off of him for a second he is into something else! We have had to remove all items from our coffee table and have had to put all of my nick knacks away. We play chase all day long! I know this is just the beginning of this game! But I LOVE HIM!
Such a sweet thing! I am such a big boy now!
Whenever we try to feed him, he likes to bite the spoon and not let go! Don't let your fingers get to close!

He loves just about anything we give to him except for peas. These are not his favorite. He loves to see what Matt and I are eating and will pretty much sample whatever. We had steak and potatoes last night. He loved the potatoes, but the steak will have to wait just a little longer!

Jake also has learned a few new tricks! He loves to play ball and will roll it back and forth with you. As of today he also waves bye-bye! It is so cool to see him do new things!
This is also a new trick...

Notice the gates...we have had to use these to keep him from going up or...falling down!

Last week while I was busy doing something I found my little buddy here...ugh!

He can also open doors and can pull my pots and pans out. I try to keep my house clean, but this little rascal doesn't help!

Everyone look at me pulling up on the table!

Here Jake is at the beach, under the table and on top of a basket. Nothing can stop him!

More tricks!
Happy 8 month, Jake!
You are my sunshine!

Engagement Celebration

I received a call the other day from my good friend Angela. I could tell by the tone of her voice what she was going to tell me! She got engaged to a wonderful man, Matt! She called to tell me all the juicy details! We decided to celebrate with an engagement party for them last night!
(Blair, if you read this, it was so weird being at your house and you not being there!
Miss you friend!)
Here is the newly engaged couple!

Of course her ring is gorgeous! Look at it sparkle in the light!

I had such a good time catching up with some of my best college friends who were also at the party! I haven't seen these girls in a few years! Here is sweet Heather with her little girl Karis. She will be a year next month! Jake and Karis were so funny together! They kept smiling and laughing at one another! Too cute!

Here I am with Amy. Matt and I were just talking about her the other day and had no idea that we would get to see her this weekend! I miss this girl!
We had a great time celebrating and are so excited for Matt and Angela! March will be here before you know it! Congrats to you both!

Beach Bums!

These past few days Matt, Jake and I have been on vacation. We took Jake on his very first beach trip! We left Monday afternoon and came back late this afternoon. We had a great time! We stayed at Tupelo Bay in Garden City, South Carolina. The place we stayed was seconds from where we stay when we come with all of my family in July.
Jake wasn't to sure about the ocean at first. We took him down to the beach and stuck his toes in, but after we spent a few minutes down there, he LOVED it!
Matt with Jake...still a little unsure at this point!

We had a beautiful pool just a short walk from our condo. Here I am giving Jake a swim lesson!
This little guy is a fish! He would swim all day! By bedtime though, he was knocked out!

We went to eat at a place on the water called Creek Ratz. They had everything there from chicken fingers and hamburgers to fried catfish! After we finished eating we strolled along the pier. The weather was so nice!

We spent a lot of time hanging out on the beach! Here is Jake and Mommy!

Jake playing in the sand.

Of course he tried to eat the sand several times. He would pick up handfuls and of course they would go straight to his mouth! I had to keep a sippy cup near by to rinse his mouth out:)!

Jake and Daddy playing in the water!

Having fun in the sun and sand!
We can't wait to head back down with the whole gang in July!

The Weekend Rundown

This weekend was a birthday weekend for our family. It was both my Grandma's birthday and my nephew Corban's. They both share the same birthday, June 5th!
Friday night Matt, Jake and I loaded up and drove to see my Grandparents and had dinner with them to celebrate my Grandma's birthday. We grilled out hamburgers and had french fries and corn on the cob! Yummy!
Happy Birthday to you, Grandma! I love you!
Saturday Matt had to work most of the day, so I suggested a little "date night" when he got home. I was in the mood for some good chicken fingers and my favorite place to get some is here...
Have you tried this place? It is sooo good. They also give you these little rolls while you are waiting for your meal to come. They taste almost like little doughnuts. They are served warm with some yummy butter to go with them! Mmmmm! We were stuffed when we left. If you haven't tried this place, you should go!
We went to church this morning and came home in time for all three of us to catch a quick nap before we headed to Corban's birthday party.

Here is my brother Tim holding my sweet niece, Sophie and my sister Allison holding Jake.

Here is the birthday boy with his best buddy, Abby. I can't believe he is 6 years old! He is just finishing up kindergarten! He is a sweet boy and is a great big brother to all his brothers and sister!

Corban got a Wii for Christmas this past year, so Uncle Matt and Aunt B got him a new game to play!

Here I am with Riley! Look at that blue smile!

Here is my Grandpa with Corban and Baby Jake! I love this picture! It's a good one!
What a weekend we have had!
And now...off to the beach! I will be taking lots of pictures and will be anxious to share about our trip when we get back! Have a great week!
