T.V, Triples, and a Treasure Hunt

We had such a fabulous weekend! It was full of lots of fun stuff. Friday night we were going to go see an outdoor movie that was playing right in our community, but we decided to just stay in, hang out, and relax a little. We ended up putting Jake to bed and turning on this show...
Did you see it? It was REALLY good. It was basically a show hosted by Mellody Hobson to teach the average person about handling their money in this economy. We saw the previews for it and thought we could learn a few things from it. It was very helpful and taught us the basics about stocks, bonds, 401K, house payments and credit cards!
And since we are all about watching our money lately, we decided to spend some time here tripling coupons this weekend...
Matt and I made a trip to Harris Teeter on Friday so we could use 40 coupons (because you can only use 20 per person). Matt went back 2 more times on Saturday to find some more deals! We got GREAT deals and of course many items were FREE or overage! Yeah for triples!
This morning we went to church and then had some of our good friends, the Olins, over for a swim. This was Jay's first time in the water. He wasn't to sure about it at first.

Here are the boys taking a dip in the water!
We swam for a while and then came back and grilled some hot dogs for dinner.
Matt and I just heard of this game called Geocashe. Have you heard of it? It is kind of like a treasure hunt using your GPS. We don't know much about it, but thought we would give it a try. Here is how it works. You type in your zip code and it gives you coordinates of where to find your treasure. These little canisters are hidden all over the world and you may have some right in your own backyard and not even know it! We found two canisters while we were out. When you find them, you sign your name on the paper that is inside and take your little treasure, but the rule is...if you take something you have to leave something!
Here is a picture of the first canister we found. It was hidden in a park right by our house. It was just off a little walking trail.

We really weren't dressed appropriately for all the hunting that we did!

Here is the crew on our second find! What a fun little game! You never know where one might be! Try it for yourself! Happy Hunting!

The Great Wolf Lodge

Matt and I thought it would be fun to try out the new indoor water park that was build just a few minutes from our house. In order to use the park, you have to stay the night. Since I am already out of school, we wanted to go in the middle of the week because we thought there would be less people. We invited my brother and sisters to come along with us. We had so much fun!
The water park was HUGE and had plenty to do. We stayed plenty busy with the indoor pool, outdoor pool, wave pool, lily pads, and several water slides!

This was just one of the water stations to get soaked! Do you see that bucket at the very top? Every few minutes it will fill up with gallons and gallons of water and...

Yup! You better watch out! Here is Allison getting a shower!

They had a kiddie section for Jake to play. He wasn't to sure about it at first, but by the second day he loved it!

These 4 loved to race down the slides with the mats. I think Kelly won the most times:)!
My favorite slide was the Howlin' Tornado! It is a GIANT slide that goes super fast with lots of twists, turns and one big DROP! You better hold on tight!
What a great way to start off my summer!

Splishin' and a Splashin'

Yesterday was my first official day of summer vacation! The kids finished up last Monday with a half day and we had a few teacher work days to complete report cards, clean up our rooms and close everything up before we left. I kept thinking that yesterday was Saturday because we just really hung out all day! We did have to run by my moms to drop my brother off because he had stayed the night with us. While we were there Matt and Jake went swimming. It was still a bit chilly so they didn't last long. Jake was covered in sunscreen so when we got home we threw him in the tub. I thought he would love a bubble bath so I filled it up and he splashed away! Because I love the water so much and taught lessons for years, I want him to be comfortable in it too. I don't think I have anything to worry about!

He doesn't mind the water on his face one bit! He will get it on his face, catch his breath and then just give a big 'ol grin:)!

May 20, 2006

Three years ago today I stood at the alter before our family and friends and married my best friend. I made a promise to love, respect and honor him forever. We have made it through the good the bad the easy and the hard and we are still going! We couldn't be more opposite, but somehow we still make it work! Matt is a wonderful husband. He loves the Lord, loves me and loves Jake.
We aren't planning on doing anything too special tonight. My very last TWD for this year is tomorrow, so I would like to celebrate that too! We may do something later on in the weekend. We talked about maybe a nice dinner at P.F. Changs. We'll see!
I couldn't find any recent pics of just us together, so I just pulled a few of us from the last few years!
Our honeymoon to the Bahamas.

Dressed up for a wedding downtown.

Matt surprised me with Rascal Flatts tickets. My favorite:)!

Sliding Rock...this was BEFORE we got there...FREEZING!
I am thankful for the gift that God has given me.
I can't wait for the many more years we have to come!
I love you! Happy Anniversary!

What A Weekend!

We had a super weekend! My brother's fiance', Brittany was here all week from Florida. They met at college up in Chicago and are planning on getting married possibly next fall. They got engaged a few weeks ago so we decided that it would be fun to throw them a little engagement party. Our family and some of their closest friends gathered to help them celebrate!
Brittany is a great girl! We are so excited for her to be a part of our family!
Saturday night Matt and I went to a wedding shower for one of my college friends. Summer was one of the first people that I met at UNCC. We were in Bible study together through Campus Crusade for Christ. We also had the opportunity to spend a summer in Argentina reaching out to college students also through Crusade. Michael and her are getting married in August.
I was so blessed to have such GREAT college girl friends. It was so fun to get together last night with them. I am definitely going to plan something so we can get together again soon!
I have ended my weekend on a super fun note! Tonight I went to see Travis Cottrell in concert! He travels and leads worship with Beth Moore. I have seen him several times when they are together and I have a few of his CD's. He is awesome and did a great job tonight!

What a great way to start off my week!
How was your weekend?

Happy 7 Months

Has is really been 7 months? I can't believe it! Jake is getting so big! Each month that passes brings to many new milestones! Jake is crawling all over the place (and as of this morning trying to crawl up the stairs)! He smiles all of the time and is just a sweet, happy baby!
There was this one outfit that Jake got from a friend of ours as a hand me down and I just thought it was so sweet. I have been waiting for him to wear it but it has still been a little to cool. I knew that he would outgrow it very soon, so I sent it with him to Stacey's and asked her to take a few pics. She always seems to get some good ones! I couldn't decide which one I liked the best so I posted them all.

Oh my gosh I love him!

This was just a pic I got yesterday.
Jake playing with his new "S.S Jake". Can't wait to take it in the water!

Half Way There

Yeah! It's Wednesday! We are half way through the week! And you know what's even better? I only have 2 1/2 more days of school until summer! I cannot believe it, but I am so excited. It is a little bittersweet because I really loved my class this year. I had a great group of kids. This time next week you can find me at the pool! Yippee!
Last night Matt had his baseball banquet with his boys. They all met at CiCi's for pizza. Can you think of a better place to take a big group of boys?!? They chowed down! Matt loved this group of boys. They played really well together and finished the season 8-2.
His good buddy, Andrew helped him coach. Here they are after a few platefuls of pizza!

Each season an award is given to a player that demonstrates good, Christian sportsmanship. The award goes to a player who is a leader on the team and played a great season. It is called the Lion's Pride Award. It is a huge honor to get it and this year it went to a super player, Eli. Here is Matt giving the award to Eli.

Stacey sent me a few pics of Jake yesterday. Looks like he was having a good 'ol time in his seat.

Just hanging out playing!

Cracking up!
Love this:) Makes me smile too!
I think he is ready to get out now:)!
We have a really busy weekend coming up. Ugh! It is all going to be loads of fun though! Can't wait to fill you in later!

Mother's Day Celebrations and HS Graduations

We had a WONDERFUL weekend around our house! It was once again a very busy weekend, but we loved every minute of it. We were able to spend so much time with our families celebrating all sorts of things. We started off our weekend by meeting up with Matt's parents for an early Mother's Day dinner Friday night at Outback Steakhouse.
Here is Jake with his "I Love Mommy" shirt on. He is so precious! I just want to eat him!
Matt, Jake and I having dinner.

Here is Matt and his mom after a delicious meal. We hope she had a Happy Mother's Day!
Saturday was a really nice day here. It got pretty warm so we thought we would take Jake to the pool for a little bit. I wasn't sure how he would do because the water is still a bit chilly. Let me tell you, he LOVED it! I started off by just putting his feet in. Once he got used to it, I sat him down on the top step. Then Matt took him all the way in and they splashed and played for a long time! Jake had the best time and he looked so sweet in his swim trunks:)!
I know this summer we will be spending a lot of time at the pool and...we can't wait until the beach!
Of course Sunday was my very first Mother's Day. I am so blessed to be a mommy to this little guy! Matt made me feel so special. He got up and made me pancakes (he makes the BEST pancakes ever). Then he told me to go upstairs and he had made the sweetest picture frame with a sweet note and some really precious pics of Jake. It was so thoughtful!
We met up with Matt's parents for church and then headed over to my mom's to celebrate my sisters high school graduation!

Kelly is going to a university not to far from home on a soccer scholarsip!
I am glad that she won't be to far away!
We are proud of her!
Here is a picture of MY mom and all of us kiddos! I love her so much and am so thankful for her. She has done so much for me and I appreciate everything! She is beautiful on the outside and the inside. I am so lucky to have a mom like her and love that Jake can have such a special Grammy!

Happy Mother's Day, Mom!

Jake Mother's Day Present

Jake and Mrs. Stacey worked on a little Mother's Day gift for me this week. When I picked Jake up this afternoon I got the sweetest gift ever! I almost cried!
One day when I picked him up, Stacey told me that he might have a little purple crayon on his tooth (because EVERYTHING goes in the mouth) and a little yellow paint on his fingers! I was not to be alarmed, they were just working on a project:)!
He looks like such a big boy!

Proud of his work!
This is one of my favorite pics:)

Cards are always a little better soggy!
Soaked with love!

"Look what I made!"

Jake worked hard on his gift! What a sweet memory I will have forever!
I LOVE MY MOMMY!

Our Weekend

We have had a fun weekend around here! Matt started out yesterday putting on a free BBQ for our community. It was the first official weekend the pool was open and can you believe there were actually people swimming?!?! He partnered up with a small, local church to host it. He did it to get his name out in the community and meet the neighbors for his real estate business. The church invited the community to come to and worship with them on Sundays! This was the second year that we did it and it was once again a huge success! Who doesn't like a free BBQ lunch?
Later on in the afternoon, our plan was to head to the town of Matthews for BeachFest 2009. Our plans quickly changed because of the weather, so we called up our friends, the Olins, to see if they wanted to meet for dinner. We met them at Hawthornes Pizza. It was delicious!
They have a little boy just a few months older than Jake. It was fun to all hang out together!
Jake and Jay waiting for their pizza:)!

They are going to be such good buddies!

Here we all are. It is a little bit trickier to all go out now that we have two babies to keep entertained!

Since it was still raining after dinner, we went back to their house for just a little while. The boys were so funny together! Already wrestling...oh boy!

Surfing Anyone?

This week had proven to be a pretty hard week for me. One of those weeks that you just can't wait to get though. You know, the kind when you haven't even gotten through Monday and you are wishing it was Friday:). I have just felt like I have been been beaten up by all of life's storms. Now, I know that there are so many people that have it worse than me, but I just feel so drained by my week. Things were really rough at school this week. My teaching team and I had to deal with so many "issues" this week. The kind that can suck the life right out of you. Then, Matt and I are making some decisions about our house, but everything seems so uncertain. We want to make the right ones and we are praying and seeking the Lord in what to do. Matt has also had a pretty tough week with work and then was called out of town for his Great Grandmother's funeral. I have sat and had so many pity parties for myself this week, it is just ridiculous. Satan has filled my mind with lies and has put so many ugly thoughts in my head!
Well, as I was waiting for Matt to get home last night, I had a few minutes to sit down and open God's Word. As I was reading in the book of John, the Lord gave me this verse:
" These things I have spoken to you, that MY JOY may be in you, and that your joy may be made full."
John 15:11
God reminded me that even through all of my life's petty storms, I need to be filled with the JOY that comes from the LORD!
When I can face these "storms" and still be bubbling with the JOY of the LORD, instead of getting sucked under by the big waves, I will just start riding them:)!
