Baking It Up!

This past Tuesday was my sister Allison's 12th birthday. I decided to stop by to see her. My mom was watching my nephew Riley and for something fun to do they decided to make homemade doughnuts! What great fun! This recipe was for baked doughnuts. After they were baked, they dipped them in cinnamon and sugar! Can it get any better?
Look at these! It was a great treat on a cold fall day. We were also thinking of all the other things we could do to the doughnuts. Frosted, glazed, sprinkles...yummy!
Here are the chefs! We had to keep an eye on the one in the red! He is a little stinker! He loved to help Allison and Grammy out in any way he could!
This is the final product. The holes somehow got baked together, but they were still delicious! We will definitely try these again!
Here is Riley helping out! Don't let that sweet face fool you!
Yesterday we had to take Baby Jake to his 2 week old appointment. He was such a good boy! He doesn't really like getting weighed and getting his temperature checked by the nurse, but while he is being checked by the doctor, he just lays there! He has gained a whole pound since our last visit 2 weeks ago! Wow! I guess we are doing something right!

A Day With Baby Jake!

Things around our house have been just a little different lately! We have been kept very busy by our little man! He has captured my heart! I just love him so much I just can't hardly stand it! He is such a good baby so far. I have loved seeing how much he has changed, even though it has only been a week! He is just precious! I am lucky to have such handsome men in my life:). This was just a quick picture taken on our way out of the hospital on Friday. We are now a family of three!
This has to be one of my most favorite pictures of us together. Sunday was a big day at our house. One that Matt has been waiting a very long time for. We all got ready for game day by wearing our Steelers gear. Of course Matt just had to order him his own Steelers outfit! He was all decked out until we had a little accident while changing him...ugh boys!
Today I wanted to get out of the house for a little while. I love spending time with my family so we packed up, picked up Grammy and my sister Allison and headed over to my grandparents house. My other sister Jenny and two of her kids, Riley and Sophie, met us there too. I usually don't get to do this kind of thing because I am working. This was a real treat for me! Jake's first trip to Grandma's house! He pretty much slept the whole time though. I think he loved being held by Grandpa! Grandpa takes good care of him!
This is a picture of Jenny's newest little girl, Sophie. She is so precious (and so tiny)! When they came to visit us in the hospital, we took these pictures. They are almost like twins! They will have so much fun growing up together. They are only about 4 weeks apart! I think Sophie got all the hair though.
This is a picture I took the other day while Jake was sleeping. This is another one of my favorites. I know you are never supposed to wake a sleeping baby, but I am about to go get my little guy up so he can eat some lunch! He has been knocked out for a while and I miss kissing him on those cheeks!

A New Little Blessing In My Life

Early Wednesday morning at 5:36a.m. we got the phone call we had been waiting for. The hospital called to let us know to head on in around 7:00. We jumped out of bed, took showers and got a few things together. I wasn't really nervous, just anxious, and could not believe the time was finally here when I was going to meet my little man. Once we left the house we new things would never be the same for us! We were going to be a family of three! We ran into a ton of morning traffic on our way to the hospital, but we finally made it! We got checked in and headed on up to our room.
Here is Matt and I right after getting settled into our room. He was great throughout the whole thing. He was a little nervous about everything at first, but I think he surprised himself at just how great he did. He knew just what to do at just the right time. He was with me and Jake through the whole thing. He wasn't sure about cutting Jake's umbilical cord, but he did that too! He is just so sweet and I knew he would cry when Jake was born. It was no surprise to me when tears started to stream (and I mean stream) down his face! What a miracle we had both seen!
Our nurse Candice was just awesome. She was so sweet and funny. She was with us from start to finish. She was actually supposed to work from 7am - 3pm that day, but said she liked us so much and wanted to be there to see Jake be born, so she switched her schedule! She said he needed to be born by 6:30 and Jake came just in time and arrived at 6:10!
Jake already knows his sweet Daddy loves him. Look at him holding tight to Matt's hand! Jake weighed in at 7lbs. 15oz. and was 21in. long. He has long fingers and toes (again, just like his Daddy). We can't really tell yet who he is looking like. Some people have said they see Matt in him, but I think he just might be a good mix of us both.

We have been home and on our own for two days now. It actually hasn't been too bad. So far Jake has only cried when he was hungry or needs his diaper changed. He loves to cuddle in Matt's arms. He is content there for hours! I have enjoyed dressing him in all sorts of little outfits and can't wait to take him out and start showing him off! Sometimes we just look at him and can't believe he is ours!

He has not only been a sweet blessing to us but so has our family and friends. We had all sorts of visitors at the hospital checking up on us and had tons of people calling to see if we needed anything. Matt, Jake and I appreciate each and every one of you! We love you all and are thankful to you for being there for us!
WE LOVE YOU!
WE ARE BLESSED BEYOND!

Baby Jake Is On The Way!

Yesterday Matt and I went to the doctor for our final visit! I am scheduled to be induced tomorrow! Baby Jake just seems to be taking his good 'ol time and doesn't seem to be in any kind of hurry. Never mind that he tried to trick us and come early at 33 weeks! Ugh! Already a little stinker! As far as we know the hospital will call us in the morning and let us know what time to head on in. I did work today to keep my mind off things. I knew that if I took the day off, it would just crawl by. We are now down to the last few hours! Kind of crazy to think just how much our lives are about to change! I am very excited to see what he looks like and just hold him in my arms. I also want to check those feet out to see what has been kicking me for so long!
There are two moments that I have been anxious to experience with Matt. One was to see him on our wedding day and the other one is to see him when our baby arrives! I know that he is going to cry! He will be so sweet with Baby Jake. I am blessed with a husband who absolutely adores kids! What a gift he has! Jake and I are very lucky!
Please keep us in your prayers tomorrow! We will keep everyone posted on things and we will post pictures as soon as we can!

The Trent Weekend Update

It is now October 12th and we still have no Baby Jake. I really wanted to make it through Friday because I needed to get report cards done before my sub comes in for me:)! Well, Friday has come and gone and we are still waiting. We go to the doctor tomorrow morning so we are hoping he has some good news. We can't wait to meet our little guy! Every morning we wake up thinking that maybe this will be the day. Ugh! Sometimes it is hard to wait! (I am also waiting to see what the pregnancy ticker will do at the top of my blog if I go to far over!)

Friday night Matt and I were able to go to a marriage conference at our church. It was called "Married Life Live". It was great! It was fun to just hang out together. Many of our friends from our Sunday school class were there too. They started the evening with some yummy appetizers and then we headed in for the first session. Dr. Tanner spoke to the men regarding loving their wives and meeting their needs. We then had another break and enjoyed some delicious desserts! We finished back up with Dr. Tanner speaking to the women about respecting their husbands. Matt and I were reminded of several things and we also learned some new things too!

Saturday morning we were able to take on "Triple Your Coupons" once again. We are getting better each time we go. Our total bill the first time we went yesterday was $143.00 and we paid $45.00. What great deals! We walked away with many free items! We bought 3 more newspapers today just to clip the coupons! (Thanks Grandma for the coupons you sent! We were able to use several of them yesterday!)

Last night we had a Sunday school class social. It was held at our teacher's house. There were so many people there. We were able to all hang out, play games and just chit chat and catch up. We had a yummy chili dinner with baked potatoes and several other goodies! We are blessed with some great friends.

Speaking of great friends, we are waiting for Donnie and Courtney and MD to come over for some pizza tonight. They live just down the street from us, but we don't get to hang out very often. It will be fun to see them!

No school tomorrow for me so I am going to get a manicure and pedicure before Jake arrives! It may be my last opportunity to do something like this for a while!

Baby Jake Update

Well, October 9, 2008 has arrived but as of now...Jake has not. There is not even a sign that he is coming today. Matt and I are anxiously waiting for him to get here. We know it could be any day, but it seems like it will never happen! I am still feeling really good. I am still working and hanging tough! Tomorrow is a teacher work day, so I am hoping to actually go in and get a few last minute things ready for my sub. I think I am a real planner, so all this waiting and not knowing what's going on is hard for me. Matt and I have plans throughout the weekend, but who knows what the real plans will be! We head back to the doctor on Monday for an update. If he hasn't come by then, maybe we will hear some news of some kind. We will keep everyone posted!

A Busy October Weekend

We are usually pretty busy on the weekends and this one was no exception. Brandon, a really good buddy of Matt's, got married this weekend so we were busy with all the wedding fun! Friday night was the wedding rehearsal. After practicing we all headed over to the church fellowship hall for a delicious dinner catered in by the Olive Garden! My favorite! Yummy! We had a great time eating, laughing, telling stories and catching up with old friends!
Matt and I at the rehearsal dinner.
Say Cheese!
Matt and Brandon posing for a quick picture.
Brandon and April were set up on a blind date by some friends of ours, Lee and Amy. April looked so pretty yesterday! The whole entire wedding was just gorgeous! Matt looked so handsome in his tux! I think I look a little worn out. Ugh!
After the wedding was over, we were invited to my parents for dinner. We were really worn out from all the wedding activities, but we wanted to see everyone. We stopped by for a few minutes. Matt was looking forward to playing with his best buddies, Corban and Riley and I was looking forward to seeing Baby Sophie:)! We also wanted to post a pic for my grandparents who live in Michigan of me 9 months pregnant! Baby Jake is due to arrive any day!
After church this morning, Matt and I talked about going to the pumpkin patch to pick us out a pumpkin. We have gone every year to the same patch to pick one out. Out of hundreds, we decided on this one.
Matt found it for us! It was perfect! It looks great on our porch.
Look at this one! I guess pumpkins come in all shapes, sizes, colors and textures!
Here we are. Matt with his pumpkin and I have mine too! Ha!
Pretty cool spider, eh?
Happy Fall
(even though it doesn't feel a bit like it outside)!

It is October...Finally!

Happy Fall Ya'll!

Well, I made it to October! This is the month that I have been counting down to for quite some time! Baby Jake is due to arrive in just 8 days! I can't believe it! I think we are finally all set and ready for him to come. I go to the doctor tomorrow for my weekly check up to see how things are coming along. I am not really feeling anything different, but I will keep you all posted on what I find out.
On a little sadder note, I found out yesterday that the mom of a precious little girl in my class just found out she has a tumor behind her eye. A few weeks ago we prayed for this mom not knowing the full extent of the situation. The mom e-mailed me yesterday to fill me in on what is going on. She woke up a few mornings ago with a swollen eye. She immediately went to the emergency room to get checked out. She then followed up with her doctor and after many tests they have linked it to a rare tumor. She is on some sort of steroid medicine now which seems to be working. If the situation gets worse they will have to do radiation. Please pray for this sweet family. They have 3 little girls and I know this is a very scary time for them all. I know that we serve a God who heals! Please pray for complete healing!
After a very busy day at work, I am soon off to Bible study! Have a great evening!
