Fun Times With Old College Friends!

Last night I met up with several of my old college girlfriends for a welcome home celebration for our friend, Angela. Angela has spent the last two years overseas on missions serving the Lord. She just got back home on Thursday night, but I haven't seen her because of the wedding. It was so fun to see her again! So much had changed since she had been gone! When she left I had just gotten married and now she comes home and a baby is on the way! We went to the Olive Garden because that was one place Angela was wanting to go. I had no problem with it! It is my favorite place to eat! We sat around for hours and talked and shared what the Lord was doing in our lives. I have been so blessed with such good girlfriends. So many of them have gone on the mission field or are serving the Lord in various capacities. Everyone has gone their own way, but when we all get together we can't stop talking or laughing:)
Who knows the next time we will all be together again, but once again we made some very special memories! WELCOME HOME ANGELA!

Wedding Weekend

This weekend I was a bridesmaid in my friend Allison's wedding. The wedding was in Greensboro, NC where she is originally from. We have known each other for quite some time now and have done lots of things together. We have worked together in the past and also went to college together. One of the best times I have had with Allison is being involved in Campus Crusade for Christ together and spending the summer in La Plata, Argentina on a summer project back in 2003. Allison was also a bridesmaid in my wedding!

I drove to Greensboro on Thursday night after work to meet the other bridesmaids and have a bachelorette party for her. We ate at the Green Valley Grill (which was delicious) on the outside porch and then went back to her cousin Heather's house where we were all staying to hang out and open a few presents. On Friday morning we all got ready and headed to the bridesmaids luncheon at a home at a very nice county club. We met lots of her family and enjoyed the time together. After the luncheon we headed back to the house where we were staying at to help Allison do a few last minute things. We had to be at the church later on that evening for the rehearsal. The rehearsal dinner was held at Villa Rosa Italian Restaurant. Italian is one of my favorites! It was really good! We got back to the house around 11 and went straight to bed. I was so exhausted!
The wedding was beautiful and so was Allison! Everything went pretty smooth throughout the day. The reception was held outside at her dad's house underneath a tent. The weather was looking pretty gloomy, but I think they made it through OK! The dress Allison wore was actually the same one her mom wore back in her wedding. Her mom changed a few things and it turned out beautiful. Her mom is really crafty and actually made several things for the wedding including altering my dress to make it fit my belly! It turned out great and fit me perfectly. You couldn't even tell I was pregnant.
This is my friend Laura. We have also been friends for a while. We also met in college and were in Campus Crusade together. She lives close by to me, so we rode to Greensboro together. We had lots of fun catching up together!
Matt rode to the wedding with my sister Kelly and brother Tim. He wasn't sure if he was going to be able to come with all he had going on at work and trying to get the house packed up, but I was SO glad he came. I was so tired after the wedding so it was nice to have him drive me home! He looked so handsome and had a blast entertaining the flower girls and ring bearers on the dance floor:).

There are some months that are busier with birthday celebrations than others. June happens to be one of those months. Besides my grandma and my nephew who share the same birthday earlier in June, my sister-in-law, Kelly celebrated her birthday yesterday and today my sister Kelly is celebrating her "GOLDEN BIRTHDAY". She is turning 17 on the 17th! I just wanted to give a shout out to you girls! I love you both and hope your birthday is extra special this year!

Father's Day Celebrations!

This weekend we were able to celebrate Father's Day a little early with Matt's family. We stopped by their house on Saturday evening with dinner to grill out. This is especially a real treat for us because we don't have a place here at our condo to do any grilling:) We managed to get our dinner finished even though it poured rain right in the middle of it all! We enjoyed hanging out all together even though we missed being with the rest of the family. The four of us were also able to meet up the next morning and go to church together. We hope we made it a special and memorable (early) father's day!
On Sunday afternoon my family had a big father's day gathering! Because there are so many of us, we all brought a dessert or appetizer to share. I love getting all together with my family! It is a very special time. This year for father's day my dad really wanted a BB gun...so all of us kids pitched in and bought one for him:). We all had a great time being together. This is a picture of all of us kids with my dad. We all love and appreciate him so much. He has taught us so much and has given so much of himself for us! Love you dad!

Happy "Father's" Day To A Soon To Be Dad!

Well, today is a very special day! This is the first year that I get to help Matt celebrate father's day. Even though he isn't "officially" a father yet, he will be in a few months, (3 to be exact)!! And let me tell you, Baby Trent is very lucky to be getting a daddy like him. He is so amazing! I am the luckiest girl in the whole wide world when it comes to this. He absolutely loves kids! Any kid, anywhere! He is always coaching kids, playing with kids, teaching kids or just loving on them. I would say one of his biggest loves is coaching kids though. Sometimes, it is a HUGE commitment, but he wouldn't trade it for the world. He has coached for years and has made a tremendous impact on so many lives. I love him so much and appreciate this amazing quality that the Lord has given him. Everywhere we go people come up and say to me, "Matt is so good with kids". It makes me so proud!
I can't wait until our own baby gets here! I can already see it now...
Hittin' balls at the ball field every summer night, watching the Steelers play every Sunday together at PaPa's house, going to watch daddy play softball or basketball, cheering for the CC Griffin Gryphons to win the championship, seeing how much CiCi's pizza you can eat in one visit (while mommy's at the Olive Garden!), snuggling in late on Saturday mornings to watch cartoons, going to the pool to swim and eat fudgcicles, taking naps together after too much swimming and too many fudgcicles, digging BIG holes in the sand at Surfside Beach and burying each other in them! Just spending time together loving on each other! What great things to look forward to!
I love you, baby! You make me so proud! You are going to be the best dad ever! I will help you get through those first few months:)You are going to do great!
Thanks for all you do for our growing family!
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!!

It's Party Time!!!

This past weekend we were able to help my nephew Corban celebrate his very special 5th birthday! He turned 5 on June 5th! He loves sports, so of course he wanted a sports themed party. The weather was VERY HOT, but a fun time was had by all!
Even Riley enjoyed some birthday cake. It was "finger lickin' good"!
Riley, who is 2 1/2, loves his Uncle Matt! They are always getting into some sort of trouble together:)
Corban and my Grandma share the same birthday.
What a special day!

Welcome Baby Abigail!

This is the newest addition to our family. Jimmy (Matt's older brother) and his wife Kelly, had a sweet baby girl with a head FULL of dark hair. Both Matt and I knew that she was going to have a head full of dark hair. Her older sister Lily is a blondie:).

House Hunting Is Over!

These last few days have been pretty crazy busy! I have to tell you everything that the Lord has been doing in our lives! In my last post I had mentioned that we were looking for a new house. We had looked at several houses over the last few weeks (actually months) and even put a few offers in to see what would happen. Every time we thought we had found "the house", God would shut the door. We were getting very frustrated and very discouraged. I also mentioned that we really wanted to stay somewhere in our community area because we love it so much and our lives now revolve so much around the things here. Well, this past Saturday we both had to work in the morning. Matt called me around 12:00 to let me know that I needed to come home to meet him so that we could go house hunting again. Ugh. I was NOT looking forward to it at all. We always drive around the same neighborhoods looking at the same houses and finding out we can't afford any of them. But I knew that we had to find something and this was going to be the last weekend for us to find something and close on it the same day as our condo. I had really been praying about this because I didn't want to move in with anyone while we searched. I wanted to go straight into our own place. So I met up with Matt and off we went. We drove around for three hours and once again were bummed out. Well, as we were pulling back into our neighborhood, we saw that a town home had gone up for sale since we left the neighborhood 3 hours before. I climbed out and got the paper. Now this type of town home comes in 2 or 3 bedrooms. There has not been any town homes for sale like this with 3 bedrooms in FOREVER! To our surprise this one was, and to top it all off it was right in our price range, an end unit with lots of windows, very close to the pool and still within walking distance of the gym! Can it get any better? So we called and went to see it that evening. Over the weekend we negotiated everything and we will be closing on it the same day as we do our condo! God is so good! We are so blessed at what He provided for us! I will try to post some pictures when I figure out how to do it:)!
What I thought was going to be a kind of slow and fun summer is turning out to be one of the busiest ever! I started back to work this week at the Charlotte Swim Academy for my summer job. I thought I would get bored without school going on and thought it would be a great idea to make a little extra money. I have been working at the pool for almost 11 years! Yikes! It is about time to retire my suit don't you say? It is actually a great job to have and a FANTASTIC place to take your kidos to learn how to swim! It is the best in town:)!
We also received some great news that my sister in law, Kelly, had a sweet baby girl yesterday! Her name is Abigal Destin and she weighed 8 lbs 4 oz. We are looking forward to a trip to Gainesville to meet her soon! We love you Jimmy, Kelly, big sister Lily and baby Abigail!

Have an awesome Tuesday night!

Bethany:)
